Pre-match view

Context last updated 12 Oct 2026, 00:11 · Europe/Bucharest

Two in-form clay players meet for a WTA 125 main-draw place, with the higher-ranked Nguyen Tan trying to solve an opponent who starts sets better.

Roura Llaverias looks the likelier winner: she has taken 11 of 15 clay first sets and closed nine of her 10 clay wins in straight sets. No quoted price is worth backing — her 1.55 match price, 1.60 first set and Under 2.5 sets at 1.45 all ask more than the evidence supports, and 2-0 at 2.30 offers no clear advantage.

Context

Pieri was the second seed in that qualifying draw, so the straight-sets win is a concrete marker that Roura Llaverias can beat opponents ranked well above her. She lost her next qualifying match to Madison Sieg, so this reads as a one-off result rather than a sustained run at that level. It matters for this qualifying final because she faces an opponent who also won her opening match and whose recent results sit in a similar ranking band.
- Roura Llaverias beat Jessica Pieri 6-4 6-0 in Valencia qualifying .
- Pieri was the second seed in that qualifying draw.
- Roura Llaverias lost her next qualifying match to Madison Sieg 7-5 6-2.

Seville was played on clay, the same surface as this Mallorca qualifying event, and the run gave Roura Llaverias three wins in three days against a main-draw field in which she was not seeded. She entered that week at No. 552 and stayed in the event until the last four, which is the clearest recent read on her level. The limit is that W35 opposition sits below the WTA 125 tier she is trying to enter here, and she did not reach the final.
- Roura Llaverias won her opening match at the W35 Seville event .
- She advanced to the quarter-finals .
- She then reached the semifinals .

Nguyen Tan's clay profile is that of a slow starter who recovers inside matches.
Nguyen Tan has lost the opening set in eight of 13 completed clay matches, yet has won the second set in nine of the same 13. She is a slow starter who stays in matches rather than one who fades, which is why her clay matches average 2.46 sets. Roura Llaverias has won 11 of 15 clay first sets, so the early exchanges are where the two records clash.
- Nguyen Tan is 5-8 in first sets and 9-4 in second sets across 13 completed clay matches tracked from 29 July to 11 October 2026.
- Six of those 13 matches went to a deciding set; her clay matches average 2.46 sets and 22.7 total games.
- The clay sample excludes one retirement.
A shared opponent suggests Roura Llaverias handled the same test better.
García Cid is the closest thing to a shared test between these two. She beat Nguyen Tan in straight sets on 8 October, then lost to Roura Llaverias 6-2 7-6 a day later, with a second-set tiebreak needed to finish it. One match is a thin basis for a conclusion, but this one separates the two players.
- Nguyen Tan lost 4-6 2-6 to María García Cid (No. 507) on 8 October 2026 on clay.
- Nguyen Tan won six games to García Cid's 12 in that match.
