Ranking against clay form: No.

137 Andrea Lazaro Garcia arrives from a first WTA 1000 main draw in Beijing, while No. 264 Yasmine Kabbaj is 7-4 on clay with 55% of games won. Lazaro Garcia is the narrow favourite to win the match and the opening set. Three Kabbaj prices, 3.0 to win, 5.25 for a straight-sets win and 2.6 for the first set, offer more than her clay form justifies.

Context

Reaching a first WTA 1000 main draw is the strongest result in Lazaro Garcia's recent run, and it came on outdoor hard courts, the surface she lists as her preference. She won two qualifying matches in Beijing but lost in the main draw to Kartal, so the achievement confirms she can clear qualifying at the top tier without yet winning a main-draw match there. She has not competed since 1 October, leaving an 11-day gap before Mallorca that gives her more rest than Kabbaj but no match play in the preceding week.
- Lázaro García reached a WTA 1000 main draw for the first time at the China Open in Beijing.
- She beat Tian Jialin and Linda Fruhvirtova in qualifying before a 6-2, 6-3 first-round loss to Sonay Kartal on 1 October 2026.

Both players arrive from a WTA 125 event played on clay in Valencia in September, the same tier as Mallorca, so both have recent match practice at this level. Kabbaj went further, beating Papamichail (then No. 192) and Garcia Cid before a 6-0, 6-3 semifinal defeat to Herrero Linana. Lazaro Garcia won two matches before losing her quarterfinal to Steur, a lower-ranked opponent at No. 286. The contrasting depth of the runs is a firmer guide to their current 125-level form than the shared participation itself.
- Kabbaj reached the WTA 125 Valencia semifinals, beating Despina Papamichail and Maria Garcia Cid, then lost 6-0, 6-3 to Alicia Herrero Linana.
- Lazaro Garcia reached the Valencia quarterfinals, beating Carlota Martinez Cirez and Ane Mintegi Del Olmo, then lost to Joelle Steur.

Lazaro Garcia has won 4 of her 8 first sets in this clay sample but 5 of 8 second sets, so her stronger tennis has tended to arrive after a slow opening.
Her opening sets have leaked games while her second sets have gone the other way, which matters against an opponent who has started quickly on clay. If the first set slips away, her second-set numbers suggest the match can still turn. Eight clay matches is a small sample, so this is a tendency rather than a settled pattern.
- Eight clay matches from 30 July to 18 September 2026, a 4-4 record.
- First sets in that sample: 3.875 games won and 4.75 lost on average, with 4 of 8 won.
- Second sets: 4.5 games won and 3.625 lost on average, with 5 of 8 won.
- Her clay matches average 20.5 games and 2.375 sets, with one tiebreak in the eight matches.
Kabbaj has won six of her 11 clay matches without dropping a set, but has also lost two of them in straight sets.
When Kabbaj has won on clay in this window, she has usually done it without dropping a set. That fits a match in which both players' clay sets have mostly been settled by two or more games. She has also been beaten in straight sets twice in the same sample, including a 3-6, 0-6 loss to Alicia Herrero Linana on 19 September, so the record is not one-way.
- Kabbaj's 11 clay matches span 20 July to 8 October 2026, a 7-4 record.
- Six of the 11 were 2-0 wins and two were 0-2 defeats.
- Her clay matches average 20.0 total games and 2.27 sets, with one tiebreak in the 11.
