Context last updated 11 Oct 2026, 05:44 · Europe/Bucharest

Zongyu Li, ranked 311, arrives without a win since June, yet it is Isabella Maria Serban, 154 places lower, who has the recent hard-court wins - three matches, two of them victories.

Serban looks the marginally more likely winner, and the 2.2 price carries value; so does 2.3 on the match reaching a third set. Li at 1.65 and a straight-sets finish at 1.5 are both passed over.

Context

Li's last eight matches have all ended in defeat, most recently a three-set loss to Jia-Jing Lu in Suzhou after a qualifying exit to Elsa Jacquemot in Beijing in late September. The run includes heavy straight-set losses on both clay and hard courts, so it is not only a sequence of narrow defeats. She enters the Rovereto first round without a completed win, although several of the losses came against opponents ranked well inside the top 250, which limits how much the streak can be read as a pure form collapse.
- Beijing qualifying loss to Elsa Jacquemot in late September 2026
- Three-set first-round loss to Jia-Jing Lu at WTA Suzhou
- No singles win since June 2026
ConfirmedSources checked 11 Oct 2026, 05:42 · Europe/Bucharest
Li's 8-3 first-set record is the strongest number in her hard-court file, and only two of those 11 matches contained a tiebreak, so her sets tend to be settled without a shootout. Straight-set results dominate the same sample, with six 2-0 wins and two 0-2 defeats across the 11. The opening set therefore matters more than usual for her, even though the same window still produced only a 7-4 match record.
- 11 hard-court matches tracked from 7 June to 4 October 2026
- First sets: 8-3; second sets: 7-4
- Eight of the 11 matches decided in straight sets; two contained a tiebreak
Those three matches averaged 20 games and 2.33 sets apiece and produced no tiebreaks, so the 2-1 record came without any drawn-out set. Serban took the opening set in two of the three, winning 4.67 games to 4.0, but lost the second-set count 3.67 to 4.67. It is a three-day snapshot rather than a settled hard-court profile, against opponents ranked 321, 665 and 781.
- Three hard-court matches tracked from 30 September to 2 October 2026
- Scorelines in the sample: one 2-0 win, one 2-1 win, one 0-2 loss
- Average 20 games and 2.33 sets per match, with no tiebreaks
The Rovereto draw was released, putting both players into a first-round tie at a WTA 125 on Italian soil. Neither is seeded, so it is an unseeded opening-round knockout in which the winner advances to the second round and the loser exits immediately. For players ranked No. 465 and No. 311, a WTA 125 main-draw win is a step at the level both are currently competing on, and it is the fixture that opens their week.

- Serban and Li listed together in the first round
