Context last updated 6 Oct 2026, 15:35 · Europe/Bucharest

Top seed Oleksandra Oliynykova, No. 47, meets No.

220 Aliona Falei in the Suzhou round of 16, and Oliynykova is the likelier winner after a 6-0, 6-4 opener against Falei's 18-17 grind. Her 1.75 match price offers no clear advantage, 1.50 on straight sets asks more than the record supports, and Falei at 2.05 is best left alone. No quoted price is worthwhile.

Context

Oliynykova, ranked No. 47, is the highest-ranked player in the Suzhou field and carries the No. 1 seed line into the round of 16. Seeding does not change how the match is played, and the caveat is that a WTA 125 draw can still include hardened hard-court players. Its relevance here is framing: this is a fixture the top seed is expected to control, and a defeat would register as an upset.
- Oliynykova is listed as the top seed for the 2026 Suzhou Open.
- The Suzhou Open is a WTA 125 hard-court tournament staged at the Sungent International Tennis Center from 5 to 11 October 2026.

Both women won a round, but the load was unequal: Oliynykova dropped four games in a straight-set win, while Falei was pushed to a 7-5 deciding set. Oliynykova therefore arrives with the shorter, less taxing path, on top of a ranking edge of more than 170 places. The counterweight is that Falei has been winning regularly in China across the past week, so the workload difference is a recovery and consistency point rather than a settled edge.
- Oliynykova beat qualifier Wushuang Zheng 6-0, 6-4 in Suzhou .
- Falei beat Hanyu Guo 7-6(4), 4-6, 7-5 in Suzhou .
- The Suzhou Open women's singles round of 16 is scheduled for 7 October 2026.

The Jingshan semifinal is the strongest form line behind Falei's No. 220 ranking, and it was played on the same hard courts and in the same travel block as Suzhou. She beat two higher-ranked opponents, Tyra Caterina Grant and Sara Sorribes Tormo, before Jessica Bouzas Maneiro ended the run 6-3, 6-3 . That run explains her competitiveness here despite the ranking gap, but the straight-sets semi-final loss leaves her level against the stronger players in this draw the open question.
- Falei beat Tyra Caterina Grant and Sara Sorribes Tormo to reach the WTA 125 semifinals in Jingshan, China.
- Jessica Bouzas Maneiro beat Falei 6-3, 6-3 in that semifinal .

The rolled ankle came a week before this fixture and forced a mid-match physio stoppage, the only recent physical disruption on her side of the draw. She has since played in Suzhou and won her opening match 6-0, 6-4, so there is no current sign of a restriction. The practical read is a player managing a knock from a week ago rather than one carrying a live injury; the same Beijing event was also her third first-round exit from five WTA 1000 main draws.
- Oliynykova rolled her ankle in the opening set against Yue Yuan at the Beijing WTA 1000 and received physio treatment.
- Oliynykova lost the match 2-6, 3-6 .
