Pre-match view

Context last updated 6 Oct 2026, 15:05 · Europe/Bucharest

The ranking gap is 486 places, but the recent results are muddled: Zavatska has lost three of her last four completed matches, and Shao's most recent outing was a 0-6 2-6 defeat to world No.

Context

Zavatska, ranked 266, has beaten the lower-ranked opponent in front of her and struggled when the ranking gap closes.
Her 6-4 6-1 win over No. 358 Kristiana Sidorova on 4 October 2026 shows she handled a lower-ranked opponent, while the losses to Nos. 291, 281 and 283 mark where the difficulty has been. Shao at No. 752 fits the profile of the opponents Zavatska has beaten in this window. The caution is sample size: four matches is a short run, and the two heaviest defeats were lopsided on the scoreboard.
- Last 15 window: 8 wins, 6 losses across 14 tracked matches.
- 5 October 2026: lost to No. 291 Daria Khomutsianskaya 4-6 1-6, five games to twelve.
- 4 October 2026: beat No. 358 Kristiana Sidorova 6-4 6-1.
- 29 September 2026: lost to No. 281 Sofya Lansere 3-6 0-6, three games to twelve.
Shao, ranked 752, has a winning record in this window but has not been tested at this level since her last outing.
Shao's 9-5 record across 14 tracked matches was built on wins over players ranked 613 and 748 and one unranked opponent in August 2026. Stepping up to a top-110 player brought a two-game return, so the lower-level wins and the heavy defeat point in different directions. The long gap since mid-August means the tracked sample is stretched across two months and is not a reliable read on her current level.
- Last 15 window: 9 wins, 5 losses across 14 tracked matches.
- 1 October 2026: lost to No. 110 Anastasia Zakharova 0-6 2-6, two games to twelve.
- 11-14 August 2026: beat No. 613 Natsuki Yoshimoto, No. 748 Chia Yi Tsao and unranked Xiran Lan in consecutive completed matches.
