Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 4 Oct 2026, 19:40 · Europe/Bucharest

A top-100 player against a home wild card ranked No.

798: Kyrian Jacquet should win, most likely in straight sets, while Tianhui Zhang's 9-4 hard-court run was built outside the top 200. The one reviewed price — Jacquet to win at 1.03 — asks him to win almost every time, and with a Tokyo quarter-final finished the day before, it is not worth taking.

Context

Jacquet arrives off his deepest run of the recent hard-court stretch, reaching the Tokyo quarter-finals before a straight-sets loss to Jaume Munar . That week ended the day before this qualifying opener, leaving minimal recovery and a Tokyo-to-Shanghai trip between the two events. The compressed turnaround is the main caveat against reading his Tokyo form as a clean signal for this match.
- Jacquet reached the Tokyo quarter-finals, losing to Jaume Munar 4-6, 2-6 .

The clearest evidence for Jacquet's current level is a 6-3, 6-1 win over Holger Rune in the Tokyo third round . Beating a player of that profile in straight sets is the standout result of his recent run and backs up his form claim. It remains a single match, and Rune's stored ranking of No. 188 is far below his established standing, so the win is a strong individual data point rather than proof against top-level opposition.
- Jacquet beat Holger Rune 6-3, 6-1 in the third round of the Japan Open .

Jacquet is the higher-ranked player, and these are the strongest results behind his standing as favourite here.
Two straight-set wins over top-30 opponents are the best evidence that Jacquet is playing near the level his ranking suggests. The same stretch also holds a 6-7, 1-6 loss to Andrey Rublev on 28 September and the 4-6, 2-6 defeat to Jaume Munar on 4 October, so the run is uneven rather than a straight line of improvement.
- Kyrian Jacquet beat Luciano Darderi (then ATP No. 19) 6-3, 7-6 on 2 October 2026 on hard court.
- Jacquet beat Tomas Martin Etcheverry (No. 30) 6-2, 6-3 on 25 September 2026 on hard court.
- Jacquet's tracked hard-court sample is 9 wins and 6 losses in 15 matches between 1 August and 4 October 2026.
Zhang arrives as a home wild card whose recent record comes from a lower level than this match.
Nine wins in 13 hard-court matches show Zhang has been beating the players in front of him, including straight-set wins over Kaichi Uchida (No. 379) and Enzo Aguiard (No. 438). All of those wins came against opponents outside the top 200, the sample closed on 1 September 2026 and excludes two retirements, and his last two results were losses — to Chun Hsin Tseng (No. 221) and Rigele Te (No. 840) — so it is a thin guide to facing a top-100 player.
- Tianhui Zhang's tracked hard-court record: 9 wins, 4 losses in 13 matches from 30 June to 1 September 2026, with two retirements excluded.
- His wins in that sample include straight-set results over Enzo Aguiard (No. 438) on 29 August 2026 and Kaichi Uchida (No. 379) on 26 August 2026.
- His two most recent tracked results are losses: 7-5, 2-6, 4-6 to Rigele Te (No. 840) on 30 August 2026 and 4-6, 0-6 to Chun Hsin Tseng (No. 221) on 1 September 2026.
