Context last updated 4 Oct 2026, 08:58 · Europe/Bucharest

Tarvet is the clear favourite in this Villena qualifying opener after a 13-2 hard-court run in August, and his fast starts point to a straight-set win.

The counterweight is Erhard, who has played through late September and has taken 9 of 11 first sets on hard himself. The reviewed prices — 1.25 for Tarvet to win, 1.30 for the first set, 1.33 for the second — ask for more than his record justifies, so none is worth backing.

Context

Tarvet's case in this qualifying match rests on that August hard-court block, which is the most recent statistical evidence available for him.
The 13-2 record and the nine straight-set wins mean the likelier shape of this match is two sets rather than three, and they leave Erhard little margin if he drops the opening set. The sample covers only 15 matches inside a single month, and Tarvet's most recent tracked match was 28 August, so this is a short dated block rather than a season-long rate.
- Tarvet's hard-court setEvidence covers 15 completed, non-retired best-of-three hard matches from 2 August to 28 August 2026
- His record in that window is 13-2, with nine 2-0 wins, four 2-1 wins, one 1-2 loss and one 0-2 loss
- He averaged 21.6 total games and 2.33 sets per match in that window
Erhard's fast starts are nearly as strong as Tarvet's 13 of 15 first sets, which is the main reason his price for the opening set is not as secure as the match price.
Tarvet is the favourite, but Erhard has won almost as many opening sets on hard in his recent block, so taking the first set is the least settled part of Tarvet's case. The 11-match sample includes one excluded retirement and a 7-4 hard-court match record in the window, so the first-set rate rests on a small, recent set of results.
- Erhard's hard-court setEvidence covers 11 completed best-of-three hard matches from 4 August to 28 September 2026, with one retirement excluded
- He won set one in 9 of those 11 matches, averaging 5.64 games won and 3.73 lost
- His overall hard-court record in the window is 7-4
Erhard's matches have lasted around four more games on average than Tarvet's, which works against the expectation of a quick two-set finish.
That gap is the main argument for expecting a longer contest: if Erhard extends sets, he reduces the number of quick service holds a favourite would use to close out a short match. His second-set record is 7-4 with 6.0 games won and 5.0 lost per set, and his block includes several three-set outings. The comparison draws on 11 and 15 matches respectively, all played in August and September 2026.
- Erhard's 11 hard-court matches from 4 August to 28 September 2026 averaged 25.4 total games
- His second sets averaged 11.0 total games, with three second-set tiebreaks in 11 matches
- Tarvet's 15 hard-court matches from 2 to 28 August 2026 averaged 21.6 total games
Erhard, by contrast, has completed matches on 27 and 28 September 2026, so any rust would sit with the favourite rather than the underdog.
The gap means Tarvet's 13-2 hard-court block is the freshest data available going into this match, while Erhard arrives off competitive sets on indoor hard. There is no reported reason for the break in the available record, and a scheduling gap on its own is not evidence of injury or reduced form.
- Tarvet's most recent tracked match was on 28 August 2026, a 4-6, 7-5, 1-6 loss to Charles Broom
- Tarvet's hard-court setEvidence window runs from 2 August to 28 August 2026
- Erhard's most recent tracked matches were on 27 and 28 September 2026
