Dalila Jakupovic #34322 – 0Lucija Ciric Bagaric #364Croatia0

Ciric Bagaric, ranked 353, arrives with the more complete statistical record of the two players.

Her return games have produced the sharper numbers, while her serving under pressure has been the weaker half of the same sample: she won 46.6% of second-serve points and saved fewer than half the break points she faced. Against an opponent with no recorded serve or return figures, that split is the clearest statistical difference between them. It says nothing about how either player's game translates to a hard court, where neither has a tracked match.

The Samsun Open is a WTA 125 event, and the six top-100 players entered put this week's main draw above the level of the clay tournaments both players have been contesting recently. Qualifying is the route into that draw, so this opening round decides who stays in the hunt for a place in the week's main draw and the ranking points attached to it. It is the reason a first-round qualifying match carries weight here, with both players ranked outside the top 340.

Jakupovic was still winning matches at WTA 125 level in Turkey eight days before this fixture, working through the Ankara Open doubles draw to a final with Naima Karamoko. That gives her recent competitive court time and a direct look at the level of field she is rejoining at Samsun. The run came in doubles, so it leaves her singles record untouched and her most recent singles tennis remains the clay events of mid-September, including a tight two-set loss to Nastasja Schunk at the Valencia WTA 125. The value here is preparation and familiarity with the swing, not a change in her singles results.
