Context last updated 27 Sep 2026, 16:16 · Europe/Bucharest

Piros is more than 300 ranking places above Hassan and has won six of eight clay matches in the window, but that clay form is from early August while Hassan has been on the surface through late September.

Piros should win, though 1.15 offers nothing and 1.55 for a straight-sets win is thin. Hassan at 5.25 to win and 3.5 for the first set are the two quotes with something in them.

Context

Piros arrives in Bari from hard courts rather than from clay.
His last listed clay match was a 8 August 2026 defeat by No. 162 Tom Gentzsch, and the matches recorded between then and Bari were on hard courts, including a straight-set win over No. 764 Knaff. Hassan, by contrast, was on clay as recently as 21 September. Piros's clay record is clearly the stronger one, but the surface switch means his most recent evidence comes from a different setting, with no clay match in the record between early August and this first round.
- Piros's most recent completed match was an 18 September 2026 win over Alex Knaff (No. 764) 6-4 6-0
- His last listed clay match was an 8 August 2026 loss to Tom Gentzsch (No. 162) 4-6 4-6
- The matches recorded between those dates were played on hard courts
Piros came through the 2026 US Open qualifying draw to reach the main draw, then lost his opener 6-4 6-2 6-0 to Mattia Bellucci . It is his most recent completed event above Challenger level and the clearest recent measure of his level against a top-100 opponent. The straight-set margin in the round itself is the limitation: qualifying well at a Grand Slam does not by itself carry over into a hard-court Challenger against a player ranked outside the top 400.
- Piros qualified for the 2026 US Open main draw
- He lost his opening main-draw match to Mattia Bellucci 6-4 6-2 6-0

Piros took the last main-draw qualifying place when Christopher O'Connell retired, after O'Connell had served for the match at 5-4 in the second set and then lost the tiebreak. The detail matters because it separates Piros's qualifying run from a straightforward three-win path: his decisive match came against the highest-ranked opponent he faced that week. The caveat is that the exit came from his opponent, so the result says less about Piros's own level than the scoreline alone suggests.
- Christopher O'Connell retired from the final round of US Open qualifying against Piros after dropping the second-set tiebreak
ConfirmedSources checked 27 Sep 2026, 16:15 · Europe/Bucharest
Hassan's most recent match before Bari was a three-set first-round loss to Pol Martin Tiffon at the Plovdiv Challenger . He now sits at No. 428, well below the career-high No. 143 he reached in June 2024, so recent results have not built any obvious momentum behind him. The relevant point for this fixture is the ranking and form gap the entry list reflects, rather than the Plovdiv scoreline itself.
- Hassan lost in the first round of the Plovdiv Challenger to Pol Martin Tiffon in three sets
