Context last updated 21 Sep 2026, 12:30 · Europe/Bucharest

Malygina's four hard-court matches in mid-September give her the edge over Hodzic, whose recent tennis has all come on clay, though only 32 ranking places separate them and Hodzic has kept matches tight.

Malygina to win is the likelier outcome, but at 1.8 the price holds no clear advantage. Going to a deciding set at 2.3 is the one quote that offers a small edge.

Context

Malygina's most recent completed tennis is on this surface and within a week of this first round.
Three wins from four hard-court matches, with 57 of 101 games won, is the strongest current form line here. The defeat came in three sets to Jeline Vandromme (ranked 134); the wins were over Ayla Aksu (203), Gabriella Da Silva Fick (664) and an unranked opponent. Four matches describe a week, not a season, and they averaged 25.3 games, so the wins were not all one-sided.
- Malygina's tracked hard-court record is 3-1 over four matches from 13 to 17 September 2026.
- She won 57 of 101 hard-court games in that sample, an average of 25.25 total games per match.
- The loss was a three-set defeat to Jeline Vandromme (ranked 134) on 17 September 2026.
Hodzic is the higher-ranked player in this first round but has the older and smaller hard-court sample.
Her current-surface record reads 1-2, and it is the older of the two players' hard-court samples. The game split of 33 won to 35 lost says those three matches were close rather than lopsided. She is the higher-ranked player at 272, but her most recent tennis has come on clay, so this first round asks her to carry that form onto a different surface with little recent hard-court evidence behind it.
- Hodzic is 1-2 across three tracked hard-court matches between 13 July and 6 August 2026.
- She won 33 and lost 35 games in that sample.
- Hard-court scorelines were 0-2, 2-0 and 1-2 over those three matches.
Both sets went to the closing stages, which fits the tight scorelines in her hard-court sample. It is the most recent completed entry in her record and arrived on clay ten days before this first round, so it speaks to current level rather than to this surface. Rebeka Masarova, ranked 177, is the best-ranked opponent in her recent rows, and Hodzic still took 11 games.
- 15 September 2026: a 0-2 loss (5-7, 6-7) to Rebeka Masarova, ranked 177, on clay, 11 games to 14.
- It is the most recent completed match in Hodzic's record and was not a retirement.
