Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 20 Sep 2026, 19:24 · Europe/Bucharest

Yuan is ranked 132 to Back's 270, but she has won four of her last 15 matches and five of her nine hard-court matches since July went the distance.

Yuan is the likelier winner; her 1.2 match price and 1.25 first-set price leave nothing. Three quoted prices do offer something: Back +5.5 games at 1.9, over 21.5 games at 2.4 and Back to win at 4.5.

Context

Yuan's front-running on hard is the clearest single thing in her recent window, even though the overall results there were level at 4-5.
If she starts the way she has been starting, Back will be under early pressure; the one exception came in Yuan's most recent hard match, a 3-6 opening set against Mary Stoiana on 28 August 2026.
- Yuan won 8 of 9 first sets in nine completed hard-court matches from 14 July to 28 August 2026.
- She averaged 5.89 games won to 3.44 lost in those opening sets.
- She lost the opening set 3-6 to Mary Stoiana on 28 August 2026.
She won one of four opening sets and one of four second sets, averaging 3.75 games to 5.25 in the first and 4.25 to 6.25 in the second. Second sets lasted longer on average, 10.5 games against 9.0, and two of the four matches contained a tiebreak. The sample is small and excludes one retirement, so it reads as a rough patch rather than a settled level.
- Four completed hard-court matches, 1-3, between 25 June and 9 September 2026, with one retirement excluded.
- First sets: 1-3, 3.75 games won to 5.25 lost.
- Second sets: 1-3, 4.25 games won to 6.25 lost, with two tiebreaks across the sample.
- Average of 19.5 games per match.
The same span includes a 35.9% break-point conversion rate, 51 of 142, and 52.4% of break points saved, 66 of 126. Those are the numbers of a player losing close matches rather than being outclassed point to point. Her season-long set and game totals also sit below half, so the ranking gap to Back is not matched by results.
- Yuan's last 15 tracked matches: 4 wins, 11 losses.
- She won 18 of 40 sets (45%) and 174 of 368 games (47.3%) in that span.
- She converted 51 of 142 break points (35.9%) and saved 66 of 126 (52.4%).
Yuan's 2023 Seoul campaign produced her maiden tour-level final. That event-specific result gives this return more background than a routine first-round appearance on the Asian swing. The earlier final does not describe either player's current availability or preparation.
- Yuan's first tour-level final was in Seoul in 2023.
