Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 29 Aug 2026, 06:10 · Europe/Bucharest

Knutson's dominant recent hard-court form (10-5) and Lys's poor run (4-11) make Knutson a strong value at 2.30 to win the match.

Knutson's superior serve and break-point saving give her an edge, but Lys's prior H2H win and tiebreak prowess add risk. Best bets: Knutson moneyline and first set, with a lean on over 4.5 total aces.

Context

Knutson, ranked 184, has built a 10-5 record over her last 15 matches, all on hard courts, with wins over players ranked as high as 53. Lys, ranked 98, has lost 11 of her last 15 across surfaces and retired from her last hard-court match in early August.
Knutson's current level is clearly higher, especially on this surface, and she has already won three matches at this venue this week. Lys's recent results include a retirement and losses to lower-ranked opponents, suggesting she may struggle to impose her game. However, Lys's higher ranking and Grand Slam experience could keep the match competitive if she finds her best level.
- Knutson last 15: 10-5 record, 66.7% win rate, all on hard courts.
- Knutson won her last three matches at this tournament, beating opponents ranked 161, 118, and 181.
- Lys last 15: 4-11 record, 26.7% win rate, with a retirement in her most recent hard-court match.
- Lys has lost to players ranked 110, 94, and 76 in her last three hard-court matches.
Lys's hard-court sample is small (4 matches) but shows clear weaknesses: 57.3% first-serve points won and 42.9% break points saved. Knutson has converted 46.4% of break points over her last 15 matches.
If Lys cannot protect her serve, Knutson's solid return game (44% return points won) could create frequent break opportunities. This is a key area where the match may be decided, especially in a best-of-three format on a fast hard court.
- Lys hard-court last 4: first-serve points won 57.3%, break points saved 42.9%.
- Knutson overall last 15: break points converted 46.4%, return points won 44%.
- Lys's first-serve percentage is 66.9% on hard courts, but she wins only 61.6% of those points.
Knutson, 29, is ranked No. 184 and qualified for her first Grand Slam main draw at the 2026 US Open.
This is her first main-draw match at a major, which can bring extra nerves but also a fresh opportunity. Her qualifying run shows she is comfortable on these courts.
- Knutson secured her first Grand Slam main-draw appearance at the 2026 US Open.
- Stored recent sample: 4 wins from 5 tracked matches.

Lys retired against Panna Udvardy on August 3 after losing the second set in a tiebreak. She then played three matches in mid-August, losing two of them, and has not competed since August 14.
The retirement is a recent physical red flag, and the lack of match play since mid-August could mean she is not fully sharp. However, she did complete three matches after the retirement, so the issue may not be severe. This adds uncertainty to her performance level.
- Lys retired on August 3 vs. Udvardy at 2-0 in the third set.
- She played three matches from August 11-14, winning one and losing two.
- No matches since August 14, giving her over two weeks without competitive play.
