Anastasia Potapova #27Austria22 – 0Darja Semenistaja #1120

Potapova, ranked 25, is a right-hander with a career win rate of 58.4% and a strong clay-court record this season.

Her recent hard-court results show a 2-3 record in the last five matches on the surface, with losses to Stephens, Svitolina, and Shnaider. The defeats to Svitolina and Shnaider were particularly one-sided, suggesting she is struggling against higher-ranked opponents on hard courts. This could give Semenistaja, a qualifier, a chance to compete if she can maintain her level.

Semenistaja, ranked 109, is a left-hander who has a career win rate of 61.5% and has been more successful on clay historically.

She won two qualifying matches this week, beating Shubladze and Kinoshita, before losing to Storm Hunter in the final qualifying round. Her hard-court record in the last 15 matches is 2-1, with a 66.7% win rate, indicating she is comfortable on the surface. This recent match play could give her an edge in rhythm against Potapova, who has not played since August 16.

Potapova's career first-serve percentage is 56%, but her recent hard-court numbers are lower.

In her last five hard-court matches, Potapova has a first-serve percentage of 51% and wins only 38.7% of second-serve points. This could allow Semenistaja, who has a solid return game, to pressure her serve. Semenistaja's return points won on hard courts is 48.3%, which is above average.
