Context

Swiatek, ranked No. 8, is a former US Open champion and has been in strong form on hard courts this summer.
Her 10-1 record on hard courts in the last 15 matches includes wins over top-10 opponents like Elena Rybakina and Elina Svitolina. Wang's 6-3 record on hard courts is respectable but includes losses to lower-ranked players such as Sara Bejlek and Caty McNally. Swiatek's superior consistency against higher-level opposition suggests she should control the baseline exchanges.
- Swiatek's last 15 hard-court record: 10-1 (90.9% win rate).
- Wang's last 15 hard-court record: 6-3 (66.7% win rate).
- Swiatek's hard-court wins include victories over Rybakina (No. 2) and Svitolina (No. 9).
- Wang's hard-court losses include defeats to Bejlek (No. 29) and McNally (No. 64).
Swiatek has a 2-0 head-to-head advantage over Wang, with both wins coming in 2024.
In their two meetings, Swiatek won 6-3 6-4 and 6-1 6-4, never dropping a set. Wang's return points won percentage was only 39% across those matches, while Swiatek converted 69% of break points. This pattern suggests Swiatek's return game can pressure Wang's serve effectively.
- H2H record: Swiatek leads 2-0.
- Both wins were in straight sets (6-3 6-4 and 6-1 6-4).
- Swiatek's break point conversion in H2H: 69%.
- Wang's return points won in H2H: 39%.
Wang, ranked No. 82, has been a consistent performer on the WTA tour with a 59.7% career win rate.
Her recent 10-5 record includes a three-set win over No. 32 Leylah Fernandez and a straight-sets win over No. 105 Jessica Bouzas Maneiro. However, her losses to Madison Keys (No. 23) and Sara Bejlek (No. 29) show she can struggle against top-30 players. Swiatek's ranking and form suggest Wang will need to raise her level significantly to pull off an upset.
- Wang's last 15 overall record: 10-5.
- Win over Fernandez (No. 32) in three sets.
- Loss to Keys (No. 23) in straight sets.
- Loss to Bejlek (No. 29) in three sets.
Swiatek's overall game is built on a strong serve and aggressive return, which has been evident in her recent hard-court matches.
On hard courts in the last 15 matches, Swiatek has won 66.2% of first-serve points and 47.6% of second-serve points, while Wang has won 64.6% and 47.6% respectively. Swiatek's return points won percentage of 50.7% is also higher than Wang's 48.3%. These small edges in serve and return could be decisive in a close match.
- Swiatek's hard-court first-serve points won: 66.2%.
- Wang's hard-court first-serve points won: 64.6%.
- Swiatek's hard-court return points won: 50.7%.
- Wang's hard-court return points won: 48.3%.

Markets to Avoid

High-risk markets where price or context leaves too little cushion.

Wang's recent hard-court form and Swiatek's occasional lapses make the +6.5 handicap look deceptively safe, but Swiatek's dominance in H2H and superior game-winning percentage suggest she can cover the spread.
