Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 25 Jul 2026, 15:50 · Europe/Bucharest

Blockx's superior recent clay serve metrics and break-point saving give him a slight edge over Darderi, despite the Italian's stronger career record.

The match is likely to be tight, with value on Blockx to win, over 22.5 games, and Blockx to take the first set. Avoid Darderi handicap and straight-set bets due to Blockx's three-set trend.

Context

Blockx's last three Estoril wins all went the distance: 3-6 6-4 7-6(4) vs Jacquet, 6-4 5-7 6-4 vs Burruchaga, and a prior three-setter vs Droguet.
- He saved two match points in the Jacquet match, indicating high mental and physical expenditure.
- No injury flags surfaced, but accumulated fatigue is a real factor for a player not accustomed to deep ATP runs.
Blockx last15 clay first-serve points won: 78.2% (14 matches tracked). Darderi last15 clay first-serve points won: 71.0% (12 matches tracked).
- Blockx last15 clay break points saved: 72.2%. Darderi last15 clay break points saved: 59.1%.
- Darderi's lower break-point save rate suggests he is more likely to drop serve under pressure, a key factor in what is expected to be a close match.
Darderi played the Bastad final on July 19, losing to Rublev, then won 6-0 6-1 on July 23 and came from 2-6 2-5 down to beat Faria on July 24.
- He has played 12 clay matches in the last 15-match window, with an average duration of 121 minutes per match.
- No current injury is reported, but the back-to-back deep runs in consecutive weeks are a workload concern.
