Context

Alexandrova's last match was a first-round loss at Roland Garros on May 25, giving her three weeks before Berlin.
- Potapova reached the fourth round at Roland Garros, playing her last clay match on June 1, and also played six matches in Rome qualifying and main draw in May.
- Potapova's Rome run included a three-set win over Rybakina and a loss to Pegula, adding physical strain before the grass switch.
On June 11, Potapova retired against Sonmez after losing the first set 1-6 and trailing 0-2 in the second.
- The day before, she won a three-set match against Lamens that lasted over two and a half hours.
- There is no confirmed injury report, but the retirement and heavy recent schedule suggest possible fatigue or a minor physical issue.
