Context last updated 8 Jun 2026, 06:36 · Europe/Bucharest

Jesper De Jong’s massive ranking edge, recent Roland Garros form, and superior clay pedigree make him a heavy favorite over Ognjen Milic, who lacks clay matches and has a weak serve.

Expect a straight-sets win for De Jong with few games, and consider backing him to win the first set or the match under 21.5 total games.

Context

- He won 14 clay matches in 2026, all at ATP/Challenger level.
- Milic is 0-1 on clay in 2026, with his last clay match a loss to Stewart (rank 308) on 21 May.
- Milic's 2026 wins have all come on hard courts, against opponents ranked outside the top 200.
Milic's first-serve percentage is 53.4%, well below the tour average.
- He wins only 52.3% of second-serve points, making him vulnerable to aggressive returners.
- De Jong's career return points won is 41%, and he converts 42.2% of break points.
- In his last five matches, Milic lost serve at least twice in three of them, including against players ranked outside the top 300.
De Jong's Roland Garros run ended on 31 May; Cattolica begins on 9 June, giving him just over a week to recover and travel.
- His five-set win over Khachanov lasted over four hours.
- He is also entered in the Cattolica doubles draw, which could add workload later in the week.
- No injury or retirement concerns are reported, but the physical toll of a deep Grand Slam run is notable.
