The second set could be closely contested if Mochizuki fights back, but the data is mixed, making this a low-confidence over play.

• Mochizuki's second sets average 9.1 games, with 7 of 15 over 9.5.
• If Shimabukuro wins the first set, Mochizuki may raise his level to force a tighter second set, as seen in his comeback wins earlier in 2026.

The read

Shimabukuro's tendency to start stronger, combined with Mochizuki's poor recent first-set record, makes the higher-ranked Japanese the favorite to take the opening set.

• Shimabukuro has won the first set in 8 of his last 15 matches, while Mochizuki has dropped the first set in 10 of his last 15.
• Shimabukuro's first-set win conversion rate is 87% career, indicating he closes out matches well after taking the opener.
• On grass, Shimabukuro's serve advantage (higher ace rate, better first-serve points won) should help him start fast.
