Lorenzo Musetti

Italy

Career-high No. 5 came on 12 January 2026. His strongest top-level results are clay-led, including the 2025 Monte-Carlo final and Rome semi-final. Early 2026 interruptions were injury-related rather than a clear long-term decline signal.

Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard

France

Career-high No. 29 came on 24 February 2025. He is one of the tour's biggest servers and already owns tour-level titles on both clay and hard courts, but this search set did not establish one explicit preferred surface. The clearest current story is uneven 2026 form plus spring coaching turnover.

Context last updated 7 May 2026, 21:34 · Europe/Bucharest

Musetti's superior clay pedigree and 4-1 H2H edge make him the likely winner, but his injury-disrupted 2026 and Mpetshi Perricard's big serve point to a tight match.

Best bets: Mpetshi Perricard +3.5 games and over 22.5 total games, as the Frenchman's serve should keep it close.

Context

Retired in Australian Open QF on 28 Jan 2026 with psoas/upper-right-leg problem.
- Withdrew from Acapulco (17 Feb) and Miami (18 Mar) citing right arm injury.
- ATP Rome preview on 6 May quotes Musetti feeling 100%, but recent durability is unproven.
- Has not played a three-set clay match since January; first-round bye means no match rhythm.
Mpetshi Perricard won 7-6(6), 4-6, 6-2 against Fearnley on 7 May, his first clay match of 2026.
- Musetti received a first-round bye and last played on 28 April, a straight-sets loss to Lehecka.
- Mpetshi Perricard's serve was effective in the first round, saving break points and forcing a tiebreak.
- Musetti's lack of recent match play could lead to a slow start, as seen in his loss to Vacherot in April.
2026 clay record: 4-3, with losses to Lehecka, Fils, and Vacherot.
- 2025 clay record: 19-4, including Monte-Carlo final and Rome semi-final.
- Recent wins over Griekspoor and Hurkacz were straight-sets but against lower-ranked opponents.
- Career clay win rate is 145-? but current surface form is less intimidating.
