Context last updated 1 Nov 2026, 17:03 · Europe/Bucharest

A top-70 left-hander against a 196-ranked opponent on a five-match clay run is the tension of this Costa do Sauipe first round.

Diaz Acosta's 9-1 clay record points to him winning, and 1.65 is the one reviewed price with a case: it needs 60.6% and the case is a shade better. First set at 1.60, a 2-0 win at 2.40 and Pucinelli De Almeida at 2.25 do not convince.

Context

A Challenger first round with no head-to-head history and no confirmed availability news; the interest comes from the ranking gap and the contrast between Diaz Acosta's older clay sample and Pucinelli De Almeida's current clay run.

Diaz Acosta is a 25-year-old left-hander whose best results in the available data came on clay earlier in the season.
The numbers are the strongest evidence in his favour, and the first-set splits — nine wins in 10, 6.0 games to 2.9 — are emphatic. The caveat is timing: the sample closed six weeks before this first round, and his matches since have been on hard courts. The clay form is real, but it is not recent form.
- 10 clay matches tracked from 29 July to 15 September 2026, record 9-1.
- 19 of 24 sets won (79.2%) and 134 of 220 games won (60.9%) in that sample.
- First sets: 9-1, averaging 6.0 games to 2.9; total games average 22.0.
Pucinelli De Almeida is a 196-ranked Brazilian who has played almost exclusively on clay through October.
He has been on clay through late October and winning: 9-3 across 12 matches, six of them in straight sets. His matches run longer than his opponent's clay matches — 24.25 total games against 22.0 — so a scrappier contest is plausible. The 126-place ranking gap is the counterweight.
- 12 clay matches tracked from 22 September to 25 October 2026, record 9-3.
- Scorelines: six 2-0 wins, three 2-1 wins, one 0-2 loss and two 1-2 losses.
- Total games average 24.25, with three matches containing a tiebreak.
That match is the most recent completed clay appearance in Diaz Acosta's record.
One match does not undo a 9-1 clay record, but it is his only completed clay outing after the sample closed. After taking the first set 7-5 he won just five of the next 17 games. That dip is why the case for him is solid rather than overwhelming.
- 15 September 2026 clay loss to Daniel Elahi Galan (ranked 367), sets 7-5, 2-6, 3-6.
- Diaz Acosta won 12 games to Galan's 17 in the match.
