Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 25 Oct 2026, 13:57 · Europe/Bucharest

Rinderknech is ranked 61 but has lost eight of his last 14, while Kym owns the better hard-court results and sits 162 places lower.

The match shapes as a long one: Rinderknech's five best-of-three hard matches averaged 31.8 games and four featured a tiebreak. Rinderknech to win at 2.0, a deciding set at 2.3, over 27.5 games at 2.4 and Rinderknech 2-1 at 4.5 all hold up; Kym's 1.8 does not.

Context

Three of Rinderknech's four losses in that window went to a deciding set, and every match but one included a tiebreak, so opponents have struggled to close him out quickly. That pattern supports a drawn-out first round against Kym. The sample is only five matches and one retirement was excluded.
- Set sample: five completed best-of-three hard matches, 5 August to 19 September 2026, one retirement excluded.
- Average 31.8 total games per match; four of the five matches included a tiebreak.
- Scorelines: 1-2 three times, 0-2 once, 2-1 once; average 2.8 sets per match.
That result is the sharpest recent sign of where Rinderknech's form sits, because it came against a player ranked well below him and he won only seven games. The counterpoint arrived the next day against Auger-Aliassime, ranked 7, so the two matches read as inconsistency rather than a settled decline. Nothing in the record indicates a physical problem.
- 18 September 2026: lost 2-6 5-7 to Liam Draxl (No. 197) on hard.
- Rinderknech won 7 games and lost 13 in the match.
Kym had won his two previous indoor matches that week, against Clement Chidekh (No. 152) and Ugo Blanchet (No. 344), so the defeat to a lower-ranked opponent is not a clean collapse in form. It does show how narrow his margins were on this surface, with sets running to tiebreaks rather than clean holds. That fits the wider pattern of close sets in his hard-court sample.
- 17 October 2026: lost 6-7 6-7 to Mika Brunold (No. 195) on indoor hard.
- Kym won 12 games and lost 14 across the two sets.
