Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 25 Oct 2026, 14:01 · Europe/Bucharest

Zverev is the No. 2 seed and a heavy favourite over world No.

67 Landaluce, but the second set may last longer than the ranking gap implies. A Zverev win, probably in straight sets, is the likeliest result; the 1.08 match price and 1.30 for a 2-0 Zverev win ask for more than the form justifies. The reviewed prices with something to offer are Landaluce at 5.25 for the second set, 8 for the match and 3.3 for a deciding set.

Context

Zverev's fast starts leave Landaluce little room to settle early in the match.
Eleven first sets won in a row is a small sample but a pointed one: Zverev's serve-led game tends to establish control straight away. Landaluce is 5-7 in first sets across 12 hard-court matches, so the opening set is his least productive phase. It shapes the match without settling it, since Zverev took the first set 7-5 against Davidovich Fokina on 17 October and still lost.
- Set 1 record of 11-0 across 11 best-of-three hard matches, 2026-09-19 to 2026-10-17
- Average set-one score of 6.36 games won to 4.09 lost
- Three set-one tiebreaks in that 11-match sample
Landaluce has been markedly harder to close out once the opening set is gone.
The 9-3 second-set record is the one part of Landaluce's hard-court numbers that pushes back against Zverev's overall advantage. He wins better than six games in that set and has reached four second-set tiebreaks in the 12-match sample. Zverev's own second sets are 7-4 in the same format, a clear drop from his first-set dominance, which is why a straight-set finish carries risk.
- Set 2 record of 9-3 across 12 best-of-three hard matches, 2026-08-13 to 2026-10-21
- Average set-two score of 6.08 games won to 4.92 lost
- Four second-set tiebreaks in that 12-match sample
The most recent evidence shows Zverev's control can fade once the match stretches past the opening set.
This is one match, not a trend, and the opponent was a top-15 player in Davidovich Fokina, so it says little about Zverev's level against a No. 67 opponent. It does illustrate the shape Landaluce needs: survive the first set, then make the match longer. Zverev had won four of his previous five hard-court matches before that defeat.
- 17 October 2026 hard-court loss to Davidovich Fokina, ranked 13, by 7-5, 4-6, 3-6
- 14 games won to 17 lost across the three sets
Landaluce's freshest result points to a level that sits below the top of the draw.
The result is one match and not a forecast, but it places Landaluce's current form against modest opposition on the same surface type used in Vienna. He took a set and went to a deciding tiebreak, so he held his level across three sets. That resilience matters more here than the defeat itself, because Zverev is a far sterner test than a player ranked 140.
- 21 October 2026 indoor hard-court loss to Stan Wawrinka, ranked 140, by 3-6, 7-6, 6-7
- 16 games won to 19 lost across the three sets
