Context last updated 18 Oct 2026, 22:42 · Europe/Bucharest

Two players 22 ranking places apart meet with a place in the Lyon main draw on the line, and Gojo's deeper hard-court record makes him the slightly likelier winner.

Sachko at 2.4 is the one price that holds up, given his straight-sets win over No. 107 Virtanen and his 2021 indoor win over Gojo. Gojo at 1.55, the first set at 1.6, under 2.5 sets at 1.45 and under 24.5 games at 1.6 all ask more than the tennis supports.

Context

The stoppage came in the game before Sachko served for the match, and he now plays again inside 24 hours with nothing published about what was treated. If the problem limits his serving or movement, it would show up quickly in a best-of-three indoor match with no recovery day. The counterweight is that he held serve to finish the match, and no withdrawal, retirement or post-match statement has followed, so nothing yet establishes that he carries an injury into this round.
- Medical timeout for Sachko at 5-4 up in the second set against Virtanen, treatment not visible,
- Sachko went on to win 6-4 6-4 and advance to the final qualifying round

The two routes into the final qualifying round were not equivalent: Gojo conceded a set and needed a tiebreak to close his, and his match began about four and a half hours after Sachko had finished. Sachko also removed a higher-ranked opponent, No. 107 against No. 171, which is the stronger single result of the two. No match durations are published, so the gap in time on court is read from the scorelines rather than measured, and one long match is a weak signal on its own.
- Gojo beat Maestrelli 4-6 6-3 7-6(6)
- Sachko beat Virtanen, the third seed in qualifying, 6-4 6-4 in the earlier match on the same day

Both men are ranked outside the top 100, so the gap between the two outcomes is a place in a tour-level main draw rather than a marginal points gain. That stakes the same opportunity for each of them and separates neither in the assessment. Because the two qualifying finals run on the same court in the same session, court assignment also cannot explain any difference in how they perform.
- Listed as the Lyon 2026 qualifying second round, the final qualifying round, on Court 1
- Both players are ranked outside the top 100, at No. 172 and No. 150
ConfirmedSources checked 18 Oct 2026, 22:39 · Europe/BucharestTennisTempleen.tennistemple.com · 18 Oct 2026
Lyon is a French event three weeks after that exit, so Gojo is back on French courts under French officiating, although his opponent here is Ukrainian rather than a home player. The complaint is documented but unproven: no review upheld it, and the second set had already begun to turn against him. The two defeats in that French swing both came to Droguet, so this frames how a tight qualifying final might be received rather than indicating an advantage for either player.
- Gojo lost 3-6 6-3 6-4 to Droguet in the Saint-Tropez round of 16
- Gojo's post-match remark that French umpires help French players
- A disputed out call at 30-all preceded the break against Gojo in the second set
