Third meeting in three weeks, and Pereira took the last one 6-3 6-3 in Antofagasta on 5 October.

Alves has the ranking and the better clay record but is into a fourth straight tournament week. Pereira is the likelier winner of a close one, and the 4.25 on him is the price worth taking; 1.18 on Alves asks too much.

Context

Pereira won the most recent meeting in straight sets and the pair have faced each other twice inside three weeks, so neither needs a scouting report and both know how the other's serve and return patterns will be presented on clay. What makes the round consequential is the stake: a win converts a qualifying entry into a Challenger 75 main-draw place and the ranking points that come with it, while a loss leaves the week's travel unrewarded. Alves had won the Curitiba M15 title eight days before the Antofagasta meeting and still lost in straight sets, which is the clearest counterpoint to treating incoming form as decisive.
- Pereira beat Alves 6-3 6-3 in the Antofagasta qualifying second round, the same scoreline by which he had taken their main-draw meeting there.
- The two had played in the Curitiba Challenger first round, a three-set match completed 6-2 1-6 6-4.
- Alves had won the M15 Curitiba title on 27 September, two days before the Curitiba meeting.

Three titles and a runner-up finish across four Brazilian ITF events lifted his ranking again, and the fifth title came in the same city where he played the following week's Challenger, so the run is current rather than a mid-season spike. It matters here because that run is what places him as the second seed in Cali qualifying, which in turn shapes the draw he must negotiate to reach a main draw. The limitation lies in the standard of opposition: M15 fields sit below Challenger qualifying, and his most recent Challenger main-draw appearance ended in a straight-sets loss to Thiago Seyboth Wild on 13 October.
- Alves took the M15 Curitiba title with a 6-4 6-2 final win over Pedro Sakamoto, his fifth title of the season, all in Brazil.
- Three titles and one runner-up finish in his previous four Brazilian ITF events moved his ranking back up.
- Alves is seeded second in the Cali qualifying draw and beat wildcard Bernardo Munk Mesa 6-4 6-3 in the first qualifying round .

Alves has competed in Brazil, Chile and Bolivia within four weeks and arrives in Colombia off a two-match qualifying run in Santa Cruz plus a main-draw loss, while Pereira has been idle since Antofagasta and had twelve days between matches. In a qualifying round that often runs to three sets, accumulated court time and travel are the most concrete physical variables separating two players from the same ranking band. The counterpoint is that the schedule has also produced results, with Alves winning twelve of his last fifteen matches and four of those weeks ending with multiple wins, so rhythm may offset part of the load.
- Alves won his final qualifying round at Santa Cruz to reach the main draw, where he drew third seed Thiago Seyboth Wild .
- Before Santa Cruz he had played the M15 Curitiba final on 27 September, the Curitiba Challenger first round on 29 September and Antofagasta qualifying on 4 and .
- Pereira's last match before the Cali qualifying round was his Antofagasta main-draw defeat on 6 October.

Alves is the higher-ranked player and the second seed in Cali qualifying, and his habit of taking the first set has underpinned a 12-3 run.
Taking the opening set 12 times in 15 matches means Alves rarely has to come from behind, and only one of those first sets reached a tiebreak, so those sets were settled in normal play. The caveat is the sample: 15 matches over five weeks with a two-game average margin is a modest head start rather than control of a set.
- Alves won 12 of 15 first sets in completed clay matches between 11 September and 18 October 2026.
- He averaged 5.5 games won and 3.5 games lost in those first sets.
- Only one of those 15 first sets went to a tiebreak.
