Brooksby, 25, is the right-hander in this matchup. He returned in 2025 after left- and right-wrist surgeries in 2023; those surgeries are career background rather than a current tournament development.

Context last updated 18 Oct 2026, 18:05 · Europe/Bucharest

Brooksby, the top seed at No. 102, meets Krueger, ranked 340, but the gap is not as wide as the seedings suggest: Krueger has taken nine of 14 opening sets in the recent hard-court window.

Brooksby should still win over three sets. Krueger at 4.25 to take the first set, 4.25 to take the second and 6.5 to win the match are the prices offering something.

Context

Brooksby's most recent completed tournament was an ATP Masters 1000, and the first round turned on a recovery from 5-1 down against the No. 49, a match that would normally have ended his week. That gives him a two-match ATP week and a win over a top-50 opponent before dropping to Fort Worth, where he is the highest-ranked entrant. The limit is equally clear: Davidovich Fokina then beat him 6-1 6-3, and ten days separate that defeat from this first round, so the evidence points to a player competing at tour level rather than one winning regularly at it.
- Munar led 5-1 in the first set before losing it 7-5
- The first round finished 7-5 6-4 to Brooksby
- Davidovich Fokina won the second round 6-1 6-3

The seeding puts Brooksby, ranked 102, at the head of a 75-level Challenger field in which most direct entrants sit well outside the top 200, Krueger included at 340. It matters for reading the bracket: as top seed he is the player the draw is arranged around, and his opening opponent is one of the lowest-ranked men in the field. Seeding reflects entry ranking rather than anything that happens on court, so it calibrates the level of the event without predicting the match.
- Brooksby is listed as the top seed in the Fort Worth main draw
- Blanch is the second seed
- The Fort Worth Challenger is a 75-level event played on hard courts

His place in the bracket was only settled, after the qualifying draw had been made and the main draw filled, which is a shorter run-in at the venue than players who entered on ranking weeks earlier. The practical consequence is a first-round draw against the No. 1 seed rather than a slot he could plan around. Entry-list mechanics say nothing about form or health, and Krueger had already been playing hard-court events in the United States through the previous fortnight.
- The entry-list update lists Krueger among four additions to the Fort Worth field
- Kozlov and Kennedy came out of the Fort Worth entry list
- Krueger faces the top seed in the opening round on 19 October
ReportedSources checked 18 Oct 2026, 18:04 · Europe/Bucharest
Three wins across five days on hard courts, including a three-setter against Kozlov and a tiebreak against Keegan Smith, is the most sustained match volume Krueger has put together this autumn and it carried him to a Challenger semifinal. That run is the form behind his 340 ranking, and it came at the same tier of event as Fort Worth. The counterpoint is that it closed with a one-sided 6-2 6-2 defeat, and his next completed match was a 7-5 6-2 loss to Shunsuke Mitsui, ranked 536, five days before this first round.
- Krueger beat Zink 7-6(4) 6-3, Kozlov 6-2 3-6 6-3 and Keegan Smith 6-4 7-6(4) in Columbus
- Shelbayh won the semifinal 6-2 6-2
- Krueger lost 7-5 6-2 to Shunsuke Mitsui on 14 October
