Context last updated 18 Oct 2026, 04:47 · Europe/Bucharest

Two late additions to the Florence draw, seven ranking places apart, meet in the first round on clay.

Forejtek has the deeper clay record and should just about edge it, though his 1.5 match price asks more than that form supports. Forti at 2.4 is the one quoted price that offers a little; the opening-set prices on both men do not.

Context

Before Plovdiv the 2019 US Open junior champion had never been past a Challenger semifinal as a professional; two finals in a fortnight moved him from outside the top 400 back to No. 343, close to the No. 217 career high of 2022. The relevant measure for this first round is the calibre of opponent he has been beating rather than the trophies: four wins in Palermo, over Kopp, Krumich, Ribecai and Moro Cañas. Both finals were lost, the second in a third-set tiebreak, so the run establishes week-long consistency at this level without establishing that he closes out title matches.
- Forejtek beat Adrian Andreev 6-3 4-6 6-3 in the Plovdiv semifinal .
- Alcalá Gurri won the Plovdiv 4 final against Forejtek .
- Passaro beat Forejtek 6-3 6-7(2) 7-6(4) in the Palermo final .
- Forejtek was listed at No. 433 and at No. 343 by .

Forejtek is the No. 343 player who reached two Challenger finals in the fortnight before this first round.
It is the most recent completed result in either player's record and it followed straight after the Palermo final. One flat afternoon does not undo a 10-5 clay record across 15 matches, but it is a fair argument against treating him as a clear favourite here.
- 15 October 2026: Forejtek lost 2-6 1-6 to Matthew William Donald, ranked No. 418, on clay, winning three games and losing 12.
- The match was completed rather than ending in a retirement.
- Forejtek's clay sample covers 15 matches from 8 September to 15 October 2026.
Neither player held a place in the original Florence field; both were added as entry-list replacements, which leaves no acclimatisation period at the venue before a first round on 19 October. The mechanics of the draw also explain the shape of the fixture: two players separated by seven ranking places meet immediately instead of one of them arriving through qualifying with matches on the site. One small oddity follows from the withdrawals — Krumich, whose exit created Forejtek's place, was the opponent Forejtek beat in the Palermo second round eleven days earlier.
- The entry-list update for the Firenze Challenger listed Krumich and Napolitano out and Forti and Forejtek in.
- Forti and Forejtek were drawn against each other in the first round, scheduled for 19 October 2026.
- Forejtek beat Krumich 6-3 6-4 in the Palermo second round .
ReportedSources checked 18 Oct 2026, 04:45 · Europe/Bucharest
Six matches in eight days on clay, including a 195-minute semifinal and a final past 150 minutes, is the heaviest load carried by either player into this first round; Forti's recent schedule has been far lighter. The eight-day gap before 19 October largely removes the physical effect for a 25-year-old with no reported problem, so the durable consequence is informational: Forejtek brings far more recent clay-court match evidence than Forti, whose last completed match was a three-tiebreak loss in Catania on 12 October. It also means he had no week of rest between the Palermo final and his next tournament.
- The Palermo semifinal between Forejtek and Moro Cañas was timed at 195 minutes.
- Forejtek then played the Palermo final, losing 6-3 6-7(2) 7-6(4).
- The final lasted more than two and a half hours.
