Juan Alejandro Hernandez #484Mexico22 – 0Matteo Covato #742Italy0

The same opponent met both men on the same clay inside 24 hours, and Dreycopp needed three tie-breaks to beat Covato before losing in three sets to Hernandez Serrano, which is the most direct comparison of their current level available. Covato's margins were a few points per set, so that match says more about tie-break endings than a wide gap. He did have two clear days afterwards, offset by a doubles quarterfinal on the same day as the singles loss, and his clay record over the past month remains four wins and seven defeats. The inference is limited to one shared opponent rather than a general form judgement.

Covato, ranked 742, leans on a first serve that has produced 115 aces in 15 tracked matches.

The serve gives Covato a way to hold without long rallies against a higher-ranked opponent. The gap between 67.3% on first serve and 45.2% on second means the pressure falls on landing the first delivery, and Hernandez's own return numbers are not in the record. When the first serve lands, Covato's holds should come quickly; when it does not, he has been the more vulnerable of the two.

The entry places both men in Cali for the whole week and puts them on the same side of the net two days after this singles match, adding doubles rounds to a schedule that already follows a full week of singles in Quito. It confirms that neither is treating Cali as a brief stop, which matters for how the week is planned rather than for how this match is played. Familiarity between the two is a curiosity, not a playing condition, and there is no evidence that a shared doubles entry changes either player's singles approach.
