Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 17 Oct 2026, 22:27 · Europe/Bucharest

Andreescu's fast starts against Salkova's three-set survival frame the Rovereto final: Andreescu has won 9 of 13 opening sets on hard courts, while Salkova has needed three sets in each of her past three matches.

Andreescu is the likelier winner, but 1.3 gives no reason to back her. Salkova at 3.5 is the one quoted price that offers something.

Context

The occasion is a seven-year gap since her last final at this level or above, but the playing-relevant part is the route: Andreescu has beaten two opponents ranked above her this week, No. 93 Antonia Ruzic in three sets and No. 106 Lucrezia Stefanini, while herself sitting at No. 168. That says more about her current level than the ranking gap to Salkova, who has faced opponents ranked below her throughout. The limitation is the ceiling of that opposition, since neither win came against a top-60 player, so the run measures restored consistency rather than a return to her 2019 standard.
- Semifinal win over Lucie Havlickova 6-3, 6-1
- First final at WTA 125 level or higher since the 2019 US Open
- Second WTA 125 final of the 2026 season
- Live ranking No. 137, against a stored ranking of No. 168

A second final at this tier in one season, at a new live career high, shows her level has settled a tier above where her No. 120 ranking placed her at the start of the week. Her February title at the same level is her only previous final here, so she has closed out one of these before, which matters in a match where the opponent is chasing a first title since 2019. The counterpoint is the draw: Kubka (No. 166), Viktoria Hruncakova (No. 206) and Lea Boskovic (No. 334) all sit below her, making this her first Rovereto opponent with a stronger top-level record.
- Semifinal win over Martyna Kubka 1-6, 7-5, 6-3
- Second WTA 125 final of the 2026 season
- WTA 125 title at Les Sables-d'Olonne in February 2026
- Live ranking No. 111 against a previous career high of No. 113

Andreescu's first-set record is built on early breaks rather than tiebreak coin flips, with no tiebreaks across the sample.
Salkova has lost eight of 11 opening sets on the same surface, so the first set is where Andreescu's advantage is clearest. That does not settle the match: Salkova has twice recovered from losing the opener in Rovereto this week.
- Nine of 13 first sets won across hard-court matches from 3 August to 17 October 2026
- Opening sets average 5.2 games won to 3.4 conceded over 13 matches
- No tiebreaks in those 13 matches
Salkova's serve produces a heavier error count than Andreescu's 2.9 double faults per match over the same kind of window.
Andreescu has won 45.4% of return points across her 15 tracked matches, so free points on Salkova's second serve matter. Salkova's first serve still holds up at 63.5% of points won, which is why the damage is intermittent rather than constant.
- 90 double faults in 15 tracked matches (6.0 per match), latest match 17 October 2026
- 43.6% of second-serve points won (208 of 477) across the same 15 matches
- 63.5% of first-serve points won (409 of 644)
