Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 17 Oct 2026, 15:19 · Europe/Bucharest

A main-draw place at the Ningbo Open is on the line, and the steadier recent tennis belongs to Putintseva, who has won four of her last five completed matches while Parks has lost four of six.

Putintseva is the likelier winner, but 1.25 to win the match and 1.30 to take the first or second set ask more than her set records show. Parks at 4.00 is the one price that offers something.

Context

Parks has not closed out a match anywhere in Asia: Beijing and Wuhan both ended in straight-set defeats, and her place in the qualifying final came from an opponent's injury rather than a completed win. Her current level is therefore harder to read than a No. 64 ranking suggests, and she has played very little competitive tennis since 10 October. The counterweight is that she had steadied the match before the retirement, reaching 4-4 in the second set after losing the first.
- Vandromme retired at 4-6, 4-4 against Parks after a medical timeout, unable to move freely on court
- The Belgian had taken the opening set and was level at 4-4 in the second when she stopped
- Parks lost 6-4 6-2 to Lin Zhu in Beijing on 1 October and 6-4 6-1 to Aoi Ito in Wuhan qualifying on 10 October
ConfirmedSources checked 17 Oct 2026, 15:17 · Europe/Bucharest
Putintseva won four straight matches across the Billie Jean King Cup and Wuhan, including a three-set main-draw win over Sonmez, so she arrives with completed wins over tour-level opponents while her opponent has none in the same period. The Shnaider defeat showed the limit of that run: she was broken seven times and won only two games. Ningbo's opening round against a wildcard ranked 1018 gives little read on her level, and she is now in a second consecutive qualifying draw in China, adding matches to a 31-year-old's workload.
- Putintseva beat Ashlyn Krueger 6-1 6-3 in the Wuhan qualifying final
- She beat Zeynep Sonmez 6-7(1) 6-3 7-5 before a 6-2 6-2 defeat by Diana Shnaider in 79 minutes
- She beat Yihan Qu 6-1 7-6(0) in the Ningbo qualifying opener
ConfirmedSources checked 17 Oct 2026, 15:17 · Europe/Bucharest
She lost the opening set in 11 of those 14 matches, so she spent most of them chasing. The second sets are less lopsided at 5-9 but still below even, and she has won just two of the 14 in straight sets. Against an opponent whose opening sets sit closer to even, the first set is the phase Parks has most often fallen behind in.
- Set 1 record 3-11, averaging 3.5 games won and 5.5 lost, across 14 hard-court matches from 20 July to 10 October 2026
- Second sets: 5-9, averaging 3.7 games won to 5.1 lost
- Zero tiebreaks in 14 matches; scorelines eight 0-2, two 2-0, three 2-1, one 1-2
The three-setters have split evenly, so the extra tennis has not reliably gone her way. Her 7-4 record in second sets is the steadier half of her match, while she has won only five of 11 opening sets. Parks, for contrast, has played four three-set matches in 14 and no tiebreaks at all.
- 11 completed hard-court matches from 3 August to 17 October 2026
- Six three-set matches: three 2-1 wins and three 1-2 losses
- Average 23.7 total games and 2.55 sets per match, with three tiebreaks
- Set 1 record 5-6, set 2 record 7-4
