Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 14 Oct 2026, 02:34 · Europe/Bucharest

Tom Gentzsch, the higher-ranked seed, meets a qualifier who has already won three matches in Olbia, but his own hard-court form rests on only three matches.

He remains the likelier winner, with the serve and ranking to edge a close second-round contest; the 1.5 quote asks him to win about two times in three and is not a price worth taking. Kravchenko at 2.4 also falls short, so no quoted price is worthwhile.

Context

Kravchenko's 6-7(4) 7-5 7-6(1) first-round win over Laurent Lokoli was his third match in three days and finished with two tiebreak sets. That is a heavier workload than Gentzsch's, who entered the main draw directly and played only one first-round match. A rest day separates the two events, which limits the physical effect. The narrow margin against a No. 348 opponent also shows how close he came to an early exit despite the win.
- Kravchenko beat Laurent Lokoli 6-7(4) 7-5 7-6(1)
- The win put Kravchenko into the second round against Tom Gentzsch
ConfirmedSources checked 14 Oct 2026, 02:31 · Europe/Bucharest
Gentzsch's hard-court window holds three completed matches between 24 August and 13 October 2026, a 2-1 return that includes one tiebreak. His opening sets were the closer half, averaging 11.7 games against 9.3 in the second, and total games averaged 24.3 across the sample. Three matches is a narrow base for reading a surface, so these numbers describe a small recent block rather than settled form.
- Three completed hard-court matches between 24 August and 13 October 2026, a 2-1 record with 0 retirements excluded
- Opening sets: 1-2 with an 11.7-game average and one tiebreak; second sets: 2-1 with a 9.3-game average
- Total games average 24.3, with scorelines of 2-1, 0-2 and 2-0 each appearing once
Kravchenko's hard-court window runs from 8 September to 13 October 2026 and covers nine completed matches at 5-4, three of which contained a tiebreak. Four wins came in straight sets and three defeats ended 0-2, so most of his recent hard-court tennis has finished inside two sets. Nine matches give a steadier read on his level than Gentzsch's three, though a 23.1-game average shows those matches were not all routine.
- Nine completed hard-court matches between 8 September and 13 October 2026, a 5-4 record with 0 retirements excluded
- Scorelines: four 2-0 wins, three 0-2 defeats, one 2-1 win and one 1-2 defeat; three matches contained a tiebreak
- Average total games 23.1 and average total sets 2.2 across the nine matches
Gentzsch is seeded fifth and ranked No. 164, roughly 150 places above Kravchenko's No. 313. The seeding reflects his 2026 season, which included a career-high No. 185 in August and three Challenger finals across the year. The ranking gap sets the baseline expectation for the second-round match, though it does not by itself describe how either player is striking the ball in Olbia this week.
- Gentzsch was the fifth seed in the Olbia singles main draw
- Gentzsch was ranked No. 164 as of 5 October 2026
