Context last updated 11 Oct 2026, 09:14 · Europe/Bucharest

Kotov carries the stronger hard-court form but a heavier Shanghai workload against a higher-ranked Kopriva, No.

68. The likelier outcome is a Kotov win, most probably in straight sets. The quoted prices — Kotov at 1.40 to win, 1.45 for either set and 2.00 for a 2-0 win — all ask for more than his recent record shows, so none is worth taking.

Context

The Griekspoor result is Kotov's first ATP main-draw victory since 2024 and a rare tour-level win for a player whose ranking has fallen to No. 187. It matters here because he enters against a higher-ranked opponent in Kopriva (No. 68), so the Shanghai match is the most direct recent evidence of his current hard-court level. The counterweight is that he followed it with a straight-sets loss to Fils, and most of his 2026 wins have come in qualifying or Challenger draws, so one top-60 win does not yet establish sustained tour-level form.
- Kotov, a qualifier ranked No. 187, beat Tallon Griekspoor 6-4 7-6(4) in the Shanghai Masters first round .
- It was his first ATP main-draw win since 2024 and his first Masters main-draw win since Rome 2024.
- He lost 6-3 6-4 to No. 8 seed Arthur Fils in the second round on 10 October.
ConfirmedSources checked 11 Oct 2026, 09:12 · Europe/Bucharest
The match-load difference is the clearest physical asymmetry in the fixture: Kotov has two days between his Shanghai exit and this match, while Kopriva has had four days since his only completed match of the week. That gap can matter for Kotov's serving and late-match movement if the contest extends. Three of his four Shanghai matches finished in straight sets, however, so his accumulated court time is smaller than the match count alone suggests, and no current report identifies a physical problem.
- Kotov played four matches in six days across Shanghai qualifying and the main draw: Damm, Vukic, Griekspoor and Fils.
- His last match was the 10 October loss to Fils; his previous wins came on 5, 6 and .
- Kopriva's only match in the same window was his Shanghai first-round defeat.
ConfirmedSources checked 11 Oct 2026, 09:12 · Europe/Bucharest
Kopriva's listed preferred surface is clay and his hard-court results have lagged, so this outdoor Challenger is not the setting where his ranking advantage over a No. 187 opponent is most reliable. His Shanghai match is the only completed match he brings into the fixture, and he won four games across two sets. The limitation is that Bergs is a hard-court specialist ranked inside the top 40, so the scoreline says limited about how Kopriva will hold up against a lower-ranked opponent.
- Kopriva lost 6-3 6-1 to Zizou Bergs in the Shanghai Masters first round .
- It was his third defeat in four matches; he beat Jia Hu on 23 September for his only recent win.
ConfirmedSources checked 11 Oct 2026, 09:12 · Europe/Bucharest
Kopriva is the away player and the higher-ranked of the two at No. 68.
Kopriva's serve is the part of his game opponents can attack: fewer than half of his second-serve points won and barely half of his break points saved across his last 15 matches tracked. That combination gives Kotov return chances even when Kopriva starts a game well. His 3.4 double faults per match add free points without Kotov having to earn them.
- Across Kopriva's last 15 matches tracked he won 198 of 426 second-serve points (46.5%) and saved 57 of 106 break points (53.8%).
- He averaged 3.4 double faults per match in that sample, 51 across 15 matches.
