Pre-match view

Context last updated 11 Oct 2026, 08:43 · Europe/Bucharest

Samsonova's deeper hard-court record and 11-4 opening-set mark point to her winning a first round that has gone the distance in three of Siniakova's six hard-court matches.

Four quoted prices offer value: Samsonova at 1.73 to win and 1.73 for the first set, the match reaching a deciding set at 2.3, and more than 23.5 games at 2.2. Siniakova at 2.1 to win and 2.0 for the first set ask for more than her form supports.

Context

The China Open doubles final in Beijing was set for, the day before this 10:00 local singles start in Wuhan, so Siniakova comes from a title match rather than a rest day. Samsonova's last appearance was a Beijing doubles quarterfinal on 7 October, leaving her several days to travel and prepare. The gap is genuine but modest in physical terms, since doubles carries a lighter load than singles and Siniakova has long combined both schedules; the practical effect is a compressed turnaround and a thinner preparation window rather than a fitness concern.
- Siniakova and Zhang won their China Open semifinal 6-4 6-2
- The final was scheduled for in Beijing
- A 40th career doubles title was at stake, a third of 2026 alongside Zhang

Samsonova's most recent singles match was a three-set, after-midnight defeat in Beijing in which she took the opening set off seventh seed Karolina Muchova before the level dropped in the third. The match finished, so the late hour should have cleared by this 12 October start; the useful signal is that she was competitive with a top-10 opponent and could not sustain it.
- Samsonova won the opening set 6-4
- Muchova came back to win 4-6 6-4 6-2
- The match ended after midnight on Diamond Court
ConfirmedSources checked 11 Oct 2026, 08:40 · Europe/Bucharest
Siniakova's two Beijing singles matches produced a straight-sets win over Magda Linette and then a three-set loss to Elina Svitolina, the seeded player awaiting the winner of this first round. That gives her the freshest direct evidence about the next opponent and shows she is competitive in singles despite a ranking in the 50s. The caveat is that both matches were played on the China Open's courts, so the move to Wuhan conditions is a separate variable.
- Siniakova beat Linette 6-4 6-3 in Beijing
- She took the opening set against Svitolina before losing in three sets
- Svitolina holds a first-round bye in Wuhan and awaits this match's winner

Siniakova won the opening set 6-3, dropped the second in a tiebreak and closed out the decider 6-3.
Siniakova's 26 June 2024 win is her most recent success in this series, and it needed a deciding set. The match is more than two years old, so it reads better as evidence that the pair have traded close results than as a guide to current hard-court form.
- Siniakova beat Samsonova 6-3 6-7(3) 6-3 on 26 June 2024
- It is one of four completed meetings between the pair recorded in the head-to-head list
