Teichmann, No. 179, returns after more than three months out to face the qualifier Brockmann, who has won four of her last five hard-court matches and played on each of the past two days.

Teichmann is the narrow favourite on ranking, but her level after the break is unproven. No quoted price from the reviewed selections is worthwhile, so there is nothing to back here.

Context

Teichmann, the higher-ranked player at No. 179 and a left-hander, arrives with no competitive tennis since late June, so the level she can produce here is largely untested after the layoff. The event is played on hard courts rather than her preferred clay, adding a surface adjustment to the restart. The comeback reporting confirms the training block but does not identify the reason for or expected length of the absence, so the absence itself remains unexplained.
- Teichmann has no recorded match since losing 6-7(4) 6-1 6-4 to Bianca Andreescu on 24 June 2026
- she was training in Buenos Aires as part of her comeback preparations

Brockmann, 20 and ranked No. 333, comes in with two completed matches on the event's hard courts and no sets dropped in qualifying, giving her match sharpness that Teichmann lacks on her return. The straight-sets win over Friedsam was interrupted by a medical timeout for her opponent early in the first set, so the scoreline overstates how routine it was. Brockmann has also played on each of the two previous days, making a third match in three days a physical counterweight to the rhythm she has built.
- Brockmann defeated Ana Tamindzic 6-1 6-1 in the first qualifying round
- She then beat Anna-Lena Friedsam 7-5 6-3 in the all-German qualifying final
- Friedsam received a medical timeout at 2-3 in the first set of that qualifying final

The block is the whole of Teichmann's hard-court evidence and it is four months old, so it cannot show how she will start here. Within it she won all three opening sets and only one of three second sets, with two matches going to a decider. Brockmann has closed four of five recent hard matches in straight sets, so the second set is a plausible flashpoint.
- Home setEvidence, hard court, best-of-three: three matches between 16 and 19 June 2026, all completed with no retirements
- Set one won 3-0 and set two won 1-2 across the three matches
- Total games average 25.0 across the sample; scorelines were 2-1, 2-0 and 1-2
- No tiebreaks in any of the eight sets played
The hard-court setting removes weather variables and rewards first-strike serving, a different task from the clay on which the higher-ranked Teichmann prefers to play. Qualifiers such as Brockmann have already adjusted to the pace of the courts, while Teichmann steps in without a competitive match on the surface since June. It frames the conditions for both players rather than favouring either.
- The event is listed as the RoveretOpen Città della Pace, a WTA 125 tournament
- Match listings for the event describe the surface as hard
