Gina Feistel #332Poland00 – 2Guiomar Zuleta De Reales #148Spain2

Feistel arrives from two completed clay qualifying matches, including a three-set comeback, while Maristany's most recent recorded match is the 27 September Tolentino final. The qualifying route gives Feistel recent competitive rhythm and time on the Lisbon courts, while Maristany enters without a match for over two weeks. The counterpoint is Feistel's mixed 2026 form, including a first-round loss to eighth seed Barbora Palicova at WTA 125 Ljubljana in September.

This is the strongest recent result between the two players: a WTA 125 final on clay in late September 2026, reached without dropping a set, followed by a first career top-150 ranking. It gives Maristany a recent 125-level reference point, at a higher level than Feistel's qualifying wins. The limitation is the final itself, where she lost the opening tie-break and then the second set 6-2 to Julia Grabher, and she had not competed again before Lisbon.

Both players' 2026 records are almost entirely on clay, so the surface is not a differentiator in itself. The relevant context is the level of the event: a WTA 125 whose main draw starts Tuesday, where Feistel had to qualify and Maristany entered directly, and where the ranking points available sit below the top-150 positions the two players occupy.

Feistel won the opening set 7-5 before losing the second and the third, including a deciding tie-break.

The 8 September match is the tightest of Feistel's four defeats in the six matches on record since 26 August, when she is 2-4, and it shows she can extend players ranked around No. 200. Two of those defeats, to opponents ranked 187 and 239, came in straight sets, so the Carle match is the exception rather than the pattern. She enters this first round having played a three-set qualifying match on 12 October.
