Context last updated 12 Oct 2026, 04:37 · Europe/Bucharest

Juan Carlos Prado Angelo, the No. 4 seed and No. 162, opens his home Santa Cruz Challenger on clay against Eduardo Ribeiro, No. 346, and his 6-4 clay record makes him the likely winner.

Ribeiro at 3.2 is the price that offers something, after beating a top-150 opponent and winning the Antofagasta doubles title last week; Prado Angelo at 1.3 to win and 1.38 for the first set ask more than his form supports.

Context

Prado Angelo's Antofagasta run is his most relevant recent clay form marker, with three straight wins before the semi-final . He arrives in Santa Cruz with a full week of matches behind him and a short turnaround to this opening fixture. That semi-final ended in a straight-sets loss to Joao Lucas Reis Da Silva, ranked lower at No. 230, so the week stops short of an emphatic upward step.
- Prado Angelo beat Miguel Tobon 6-2 6-2 in the Antofagasta quarter-final, reported as his third semi-final of 2026.
- Joao Lucas Reis Da Silva beat Prado Angelo 6-3 6-4 in the Antofagasta semi-final .

Ribeiro is ranked 184 places below Prado Angelo and his 15-match clay sample from 4 August to 9 October 2026 sits at 7-8, so he starts as the outsider. The Heide win shows he can beat a higher-ranked opponent on this surface even after dropping the opening set 3-6. The counterpoint is that three of his five most recent completed singles matches ended in defeat, two of them in straight sets, so one good week is not a settled run of form.
- 8 October 2026: Ribeiro beat Gustavo Heide (ATP No. 116) 3-6 6-3 6-4 in Antofagasta; both players completed the match.
- Of Ribeiro's six completed matches from 24 September to 9 October 2026, Heide is the highest-ranked opponent and the only top-150 win.
- He has lost three of his five most recent completed singles matches, including a 3-12 games defeat on 9 October 2026.
Ribeiro has lost the opening set in nine of his 15 completed clay matches from 4 August to 9 October 2026, winning 4.67 games to 5.33 in those sets. His second-set record is close to level at 8-7, so he has recovered from slow starts, including a three-set win over Heide on 8 October. The first set is still the part of his record that gives a higher-ranked opponent the clearest opening.
- Clay sample 4 August–9 October 2026: Ribeiro is 6-9 in first sets and 8-7 in second sets across 15 completed matches.
- He averages 4.67 games won and 5.33 lost in first sets, and 4.87 won and 4.93 lost in second sets.
- Three of his 15 clay first sets reached a tiebreak, against one in 15 second sets.
Prado Angelo is the higher-ranked and seeded player, at No. 162 to Ribeiro's No. 346, and plays at his home Bolivian event. The Bolivia Open is on clay, the surface of almost all of both players' recent matches, so there is no surface adjustment for either man. Prado Angelo's seeding and home setting mark him as the favourite; Ribeiro's wins over top-150 clay opponents in the week before this match are the main counterweight.
- The Bolivia Open main draw lists Eduardo Ribeiro against fourth-seeded Juan Carlos Prado Angelo in the opening round.
- The tournament is a 75-point ATP Challenger played on clay in Santa Cruz de la Sierra from 12 to 18 October 2026.
- Prado Angelo is named among the Bolivian representatives in the draw.
