Darja Semenistaja #13111 – 2Mathilde Lollia #640France2

Lollia completed two three-set qualifying matches on consecutive days, while Semenistaja has not competed since mid-September and arrives with about four weeks between matches. That contrast matters in a first-round match: Lollia carries recent rhythm but heavier legs, and Semenistaja should be fresher but may need time to find timing. This is a preparation difference rather than a reported physical problem for either player, so it shapes the likely early tempo without indicating that either is unfit.

Semenistaja is the higher-ranked player at No. 131 but brings a light recent win column.

Semenistaja's ranking of No. 131 still makes her the higher-rated player here, but the recent sample is light on wins. Only two of those four victories fall inside the six most recent matches recorded, and no aggregate serve or return figures are available for her. The record is the clearest guide to her current level.

Lollia, a French player ranked No. 640, had to win two matches to reach the main draw, and the 7-6 tiebreak she won to close out the final qualifying round showed she handled a tight set. That route gives her competitive rhythm a direct entrant would not have, though it also cost her two three-set matches on consecutive days. Her ranking sits roughly five hundred places below Semenistaja's, so qualifying form is context rather than a demonstrated edge.

After top seed Leylah Fernandez withdrew from the September São Paulo Open, Semenistaja was moved into the draw in her place and given the No. 9 seeding, then beat Hayu Kinoshita in straight sets before losing to Teodora Kostovic in the round of 16. Those are the only competitive matches she has played since mid-September and the most recent measure of her level. That tennis came on hard courts, while this event is on clay, so it is an imperfect guide to her current clay form.
