Context last updated 12 Oct 2026, 01:32 · Europe/Bucharest

Grabher, the No. 99, should beat No.

338 Chiesa in the Mallorca first round, but her 1.29 match price asks for more than her clay record supports. Four quoted prices do measure up: Chiesa with a 4.5-game start at 2, the match going to a deciding set at 2.75, Grabher winning in three sets at 4.25, and Chiesa taking the first set at 3.

Context

Grabher's Tolentino title and 6-2 clay run set a clear favourite against a No. 338 opponent who is 6-9 on clay in the same period, but Grabher's 5 October first-round loss and level clay first-set record keep the conditions from being one-way.

Grabher won five matches in six days to take the Tolentino WTA 125 title, beating Maristany 7-6(5) 6-2 in the final and Oksana Selekhmeteva in the semi-finals. It matters here because she is the only player in this matchup with a title in the past month, and the result moved her back inside the top 100. The counterpoint is that she has played only once since, losing 6-3 6-4 to Dalma Galfi in the Samsun Open first round on 5 October, so the Tolentino run is recent rather than part of a longer unbeaten stretch.
- Grabher, seeded third, beat ninth seed Guiomar Maristany 7-6(5) 6-2 in the Tolentino WTA 125 final .
- She beat Oksana Selekhmeteva 7-6(5) 6-1 in the semi-finals in Tolentino.
- She lost 6-3 6-4 to Dalma Galfi in the first round of the Samsun Open on 5 October 2026.

Grabher's clay numbers suggest the opening set is the part of the match she is most likely to concede.
Grabher's 4-4 clay first-set record is the weaker half of a strong 6-2 clay stretch, and she lost the opener in three of her last five clay matches. Across those eight matches she is 6-2 in second sets, conceding just 3.0 games on average. An early deficit would not be out of character in this first round, but the middle of the match is where her record is strongest.
- Eight clay matches from 24 July to 27 September 2026 are tracked for Grabher, all completed without retirement.
- She won 4 and lost 4 clay first sets and won 6 and lost 2 clay second sets.
- Her clay second sets conceded 3.0 games on average, while her first sets averaged 10.0 total games.
The women's WTA 125 is a late-season event added at the venue that stages the June Mallorca Championships, so this main-draw singles match is played on the island outside the grass-court window. At 125 level the field mixes Spanish wildcards and qualifiers with higher-ranked entrants, which frames the ranking gap in this fixture: Grabher is near the top 100 while Chiesa sits outside the top 300.
- The Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Women's Championships is a WTA 125 event staged at the Mallorca Championships venue in October 2026.
- The main draw was finalised after the closing qualifying round.

Chiesa needed three sets and 34 games to beat a player ranked No. 499 on 8 October, the closest comparable to the standard of opponent she faces here against the No. 99. It is a single match rather than a trend, so it should not be stretched into a form judgement. It suggests she can extend sets, without showing that she can hold that level against a top-100 opponent.
- On 8 October 2026, Chiesa beat No. 499 Marta Lombardini 7-5 3-6 7-6 in a completed clay match.
- She won 17 games and lost 17 in that match.
