First meeting in a Samsun quarter-final: Stefanini, the eighth seed and world No. 125, against No.

160 Iatcenko. Stefanini has not dropped a set this week and is the likelier winner, but Iatcenko's serve numbers and matching recent win count keep it close. The 1.8 on Stefanini asks more than the tennis supports; the price worth taking is 1.5 for a two-set finish, while Stefanini 2-0 at 2.6 is fair.

Context

Three weeks before Samsun, both players were on the same trajectory: each came through qualifying in New York and won a main-draw match before running into a seeded opponent. That gives this first meeting a shared hard-court reference point at a far higher level than a WTA 125, and it explains why neither arrives as the clear owner of the stronger recent-stage record. Both second-round defeats were one-sided, so the pair of results establishes the level they were tested at rather than evidence that either is close to top-20 form.
- Stefanini qualified for the US Open and beat Yastremska in the main draw
- Iatcenko beat Renata Zarazua at the US Open
- Iatcenko was Sabalenka's second-round opponent at the US Open, after Osorio in round one
- Stefanini lost her US Open second round to Jasmine Paolini

The complaint is relevant here mainly because of the schedule around it: Stefanini lost to Nadia Podoroska on 15 September and did not play again until 28 September, a 13-day gap, in a month that had already included her US Open exit. She has since completed five matches without a retirement, walkover or medical timeout, which is the strongest available evidence that the arm is not limiting her in this swing. Nothing published points to a current restriction, so this reads as background for her results rather than an active availability doubt.
- Stefanini said the blood draw left a large, painful hematoma on her arm
- She said the needle was moved repeatedly while the vein could not be found
- She questioned whether the procedure was normal and whether all players are treated the same way

Stefanini has won both Samsun matches in straight sets against opponents ranked inside the top 210, and the round of 16 against Noha Akugue was decided without a close set. That places her in the quarter-final with the cleaner scorelines of the two and with the seeding to match, which is consistent with the ranking gap opening this fixture. It does not establish a surface or matchup advantage in a first meeting, and her previous week ended with a three-set loss to Leolia Jeanjean, so the accurate reading is a player winning the matches she is favoured in rather than someone on a dominant run.
- Stefanini beat Noma Noha Akugue 6-2 6-3 in the round of 16
- Stefanini is the eighth seed at the event
- Her first-round match was a 7-5 6-4 win over Carole Monnet

Iatcenko has been on a heavy Turkish swing: four singles matches in six days in Ankara before arriving in Samsun, where she has since added two more wins without dropping a set. The pause for discomfort in the semi-final is the only documented physical interruption in that stretch, and she finished the match, so it reads as a workload flag rather than an injury that changes her outlook. It matters because the accumulated match load is the one asymmetric element between the two players, and it is offset by her straight-set wins in Samsun.
- Iatcenko played the Ankara WTA 125 semi-final against Teodora Kostovic
- She beat Ksenia Zaytseva 6-3 6-2 in the Ankara quarter-final
- She experienced discomfort in the semi-final and continued after a rest
