Noma Akugue Noha #142Germany22 – 0Ilay Yoruk #843Türkiye0

In that six-match sample Akugue won 5 of 6 first sets, averaging 5.5 games to 3.2, but just 2 of 6 second sets, averaging 4.3 games against 4.7. Her scorelines — two 2-0 wins, three 1-2 losses and one 0-2 loss — follow the same shape, which is why the Adana first-round exit on 28 September fits the pattern. Against an opponent who has won eight of ten hard-court second sets, the middle of this match is where the apparent mismatch can tighten, though six matches remains a small base.

This first edition at 125 level means there is no defending champion and no established Samsun form to consult, with the match falling on the opening day of a main draw spread across 4-11 October. The standard of the field is set by six top-100 entrants, which places this fixture near the lower end of the draw on ranking. Because the venue carries no tournament history, the ranking gap between the two players is the clearest available reference for the level of the contest.

The 2023 Hamburg final and the slide to the edge of the top 300 that followed show the level has been there while the ranking was not, and the September 2026 move to a new career high puts her weeks away from this fixture at the best standing of her career. It frames her as a player still climbing rather than one holding a long-established position, which is why the Adana first-round loss is the only recent result that cuts against the arc. The career-high marker reflects accumulated ranking points and says nothing about how she matches up against a specific opponent.
