Pre-match view

Context last updated 2 Oct 2026, 22:46 · Europe/Bucharest

Manzano arrives in Bari without dropping a set, while Donald has won five of his last six clay matches but has played five times in six days.

Manzano is the likelier winner, and the straight-set route is the lean. Among reviewed prices, Manzano at 1.85 carries something in three places — the match, the first set and the second set. Donald's 1.95 match price and 1.85 set prices do not.

Context

Donald, 21 and ranked outside the top 450, had not previously reached a Challenger semifinal, so Bari is the deepest run of his career and the first time he is competing at this stage. Getting there required beating Krumich, ranked No. 254, in a deciding set, a higher-ranked opponent than his own ranking would suggest he handles. The limit is the quality of the rest of the route: until the semifinal his wins here came against a player ranked below him or through a retirement, so Manzano is a different test of where Donald actually stands.
- Donald beat Martin Krumich 4–6, 6–1, 6–3 in the Bari quarterfinals
- The result puts Donald into the first ATP Challenger semifinal of his career

Manzano's three Bari wins have all been straight sets, including a win over seventh seed Jay Clarke, ranked No. 236, and a 6–1, 6–2 quarterfinal against the player who removed the top seed. Short matches matter in a clay semifinal because they reduce accumulated games, and Manzano enters this match with less time on court than Donald. The qualification is that Clarke is the highest-ranked opponent he has beaten this week, so the clean scores reflect a kind draw as well as current form.
- Manzano won all three of his Bari matches in straight sets
- Clarke, his second-round opponent, was the seventh seed and ranked No. 236

Donald began in qualifying, so this semifinal will be his fifth match in six days in Bari, and two of his wins went to a third set while Manzano has played three matches. Accumulated time on court is a plausible physical factor in a clay semifinal, and it is the clearest asymmetry between the two players' weeks. What is not established is an actual physical problem: Donald completed the quarterfinal in three sets, so the extra load is a conditioning question rather than a documented concern.
- Donald came through qualifying into the Bari main draw
- Donald beat Olle Wallin 6–3, 7–5 in the first round
- Fourth seed Lorenzo Giustino retired with the second-round match at 6–7(1), 6–3, 3–1 in Donald's favour
ConfirmedSources checked 2 Oct 2026, 22:45 · Europe/Bucharest
The draw's highest-ranked player, Zsombor Piros at No. 113, was eliminated in the first round of Manzano's section by Enrico Dalla Valle, and Manzano then beat Dalla Valle 6–1, 6–2. That leaves a semifinalist ranked No. 426 whose run did not have to pass through the draw's strongest entry, and it explains how this part of the draw opened up. The point does not extend to Donald, who came through the other half and whose route did not include Piros.
- Piros was the tournament's top seed and ranked No. 113
- Dalla Valle beat Piros 6–4, 6–2 and then lost to Manzano
