Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 29 Sep 2026, 05:26 · Europe/Bucharest

Krueger is the higher-ranked player with the far better recent record, but Kenin has kept her hard-court matches close and leads their head-to-head 2-1, most recently in April 2026.

Krueger still looks the likelier winner, yet 1.6 asks too much for that, and Over 21.5 games at 1.8 is stretched. Only Kenin with a 2.5-game start at 1.85 is worth the price.

Context

Kenin's most recent completed match was a Korea Open first-round loss to Alina Charaeva, where she took the opening set and served for the match at 5-4 in the second before dropping a three-setter that lasted close to three hours. It is the only singles she has completed since the US Open, and it ended in defeat after she had led. The gap between that match and New York, plus the stronger opposition she met there, means this stands as a single recent result rather than a settled run of form.
- Alina Charaeva beat Sofia Kenin in the Korea Open first round in a three-set match that lasted close to three hours.
- Kenin won the opening set and served for the match at 5-4 in the second before losing the final two sets.
ConfirmedSources checked 29 Sep 2026, 05:24 · Europe/Bucharest
Kenin has had the better of the series, but both of her wins were straight-set matches decided by small margins.
Their record against each other is close rather than one-sided: the last meeting needed a tiebreak to settle the opening set, and Krueger's one win came in three sets. That history is a reason to expect a competitive match in Beijing even though Krueger's recent form is much the better of the two.
- The most recent meeting, on 22 April 2026, went to Kenin 7-6(2) 6-4.
- That was the third of the three completed head-to-head matches listed; Kenin holds a 2-1 lead in the series.
Kenin has rarely been beaten heavily over this stretch, and both tiebreaks in her sample came in these matches. A longer, tighter contest fits her recent results better than a straightforward win for the higher-ranked player.
- Kenin's hard-court set sample covers seven completed matches from 27 July to 22 September 2026.
- Four of the seven went to a third set and her matches averaged 24.3 total games.
- Two of the seven contained a tiebreak.
The small sample excludes one retirement, so it is a guide rather than a settled pattern. Krueger won only one of five opening sets, at 3.4 games per set, which leaves room for a scrappier opponent who keeps games close.
- Krueger's five completed hard-court matches from 27 July to 31 August 2026 averaged 19.0 total games, with one retirement excluded from the sample.
- Three of the five ended 0-2; the others were a 2-0 win and a 2-1 win.
- No tiebreak was played in any of the five, and Krueger won 1 of 5 opening sets, averaging 3.4 games won in them.
