Context last updated 30 Sep 2026, 19:30 · Europe/Bucharest

Two Swiss players, a 19-year-old on a six-match indoor run and a higher-ranked compatriot: Henry Bernet, No. 483, against Dominic Stricker, No. 264, in the second round at Mouilleron-le-Captif.

Stricker is the likelier winner — he has taken 67.6% of sets across 15 tracked matches against tougher opposition — but both his completed indoor matches in this window went to three sets. Neither quoted price is worth taking: 1.6 on Stricker and 2.2 on Bernet both ask for more than the record supports.

Context

Bernet won the Falun M25 title in the week of 21 September, beating Samir Banerjee in the final and finishing the week without losing a set. It was his first hard-court ITF title after three on clay, so the run is a surface adjustment rather than routine lower-tier form, and he carried it into a straight-sets first-round win here. The level is the counterweight: an M25 sits well below this 75-level Challenger and far below what Stricker has faced, so the title supports current form more than proof he can handle this field.
- Falun M25 champion in the week of 21 September 2026; final win over Samir Banerjee 7-6(3) 6-4
- First ITF hard-court title after earlier titles on clay (Muttenz and Lausanne in 2025, Lausanne in 2026)
- Fourth ITF singles title of his career; won the event without dropping a set

Stricker played a singles and a doubles match for Switzerland in the Davis Cup tie in Rio de Janeiro on 18-, losing to Joao Fonseca in three sets and with Jakub Paul in straight sets as Brazil took the tie. It was his most recent competitive tennis before Mouilleron and shows a current level against a top-30 opponent rather than only Challenger opposition, with the doubles loss part of a heavy team weekend. The counterpoint is that a team format and a top-30 opponent limit how much these defeats say about his level against a lower-ranked compatriot here.
- Davis Cup tie in Rio de Janeiro, 18-: Brazil beat Switzerland
- Stricker lost the opening singles to Joao Fonseca 4-6 6-3 6-2
- Stricker and Jakub Paul lost the doubles to Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos 7-6(1) 6-2

Bernet, 19 and ranked No. 483, reaches the second round on a six-match indoor hard winning run built entirely between 21 and 30 September.
Six straight-set wins on the same surface inside ten days point to a player in rhythm and to matches that tend not to stretch, the opposite of Stricker's two three-set indoor outings. The caveat is the level: four of those wins came against opponents ranked No. 624 or lower, plus one unranked opponent, so this second round is a step up from most of the run even after his win over Glinka.
- Six completed indoor hard matches, 21–30 September 2026: six wins, no losses, all six scorelines 2-0
- Set 1: 6-0, averaging 6.5 games won and 4.5 lost (11.0 total) with two tiebreaks; set 2: 6-0, averaging 6.33 won and 4.0 lost (10.33 total)
- Average 21.3 total games per match across the six-match sample, which excludes one retirement
- Four of the six wins came against opponents ranked No. 624 or lower, plus one unranked opponent; the strongest was No. 173 Daniil Glinka on 30 September 2026
Bernet's 6-4 6-4 win came against the sixth seed, Daniil Glinka, ranked No. 173 against Bernet's mid-400s placing, so it is a stronger result than a routine opening win. It extended his indoor winning run into the main draw and earned a second-round place. A single win over a mid-tier seed is a thin base for a firm read at this level, and the two close sets suggest the margin was narrow.
- First round, Mouilleron-le-Captif, : Bernet d. Glinka 6-4 6-4
- Glinka was the sixth seed and ranked No. 173
