Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 28 Sep 2026, 04:46 · Europe/Bucharest

Alex Bolt is ranked 254 places higher than Semen Pankin, but Bolt's modest hard-court form and a reported shoulder treatment keep the first round open.

Bolt is still the likelier winner. The 1.22 on Bolt is not worth backing; the 3.8 on Pankin is the one price that offers something.

Context

Bolt's shoulder was treated on court during the deciding set of his Hangzhou qualifying final, six days before this fixture, which makes his physical state the clearest open question around him here. He finished that match and played again the next day, and nothing since has indicated a withdrawal or a restriction, so the treatment is not proof of a confirmed problem. It flags a body concern in the week before a first-round match with no lead-in event at this venue.
- Bolt received treatment on his shoulder during a medical timeout at 1-2 in the third set against Akira Santillan .
- Bolt completed that qualifying final and won 6-1 2-6 6-4.
- Bolt lost his Hangzhou main-draw first-round match to Fabian Marozsan 6-4 6-2 on 24 September.

The qualifying run gave Bolt three matches on Chinese hard courts in the week before this fixture, after nearly a month without competition, and lifted him into the main draw of a tour-level event rather than a Challenger. Both wins came against lower-ranked compatriots, and the step up in opposition ended in a straight-sets loss to a top-60 player, so the run measures his current rhythm more than his ceiling. It is the most recent evidence of the level he brings into this match.
- Bolt beat Omar Jasika 6-4 6-3 in the first round of Hangzhou Open qualifying.
- Bolt beat Akira Santillan 6-1 2-6 6-4 in the final qualifying round to reach the ATP 250 main draw.
- Bolt lost his main-draw opener to Fabian Marozsan 6-4 6-2 on 24 September.

The fixture sits at a venue only recently added to the Challenger calendar, so there is little prior booking of these courts or conditions to draw on for either player. It also falls in a crowded Asian hard-court week that includes ATP 500 events in Tokyo and Beijing, which shapes the strength and depth of the field the two players are working through. The same site is hosting a WTA 125 in the same week.
- The Jingshan Challenger 100 runs from 29 September to 4 October 2026 on the Challenger calendar.
- The same Jingshan week includes a WTA 125 alongside the men's Challenger 100.
- Jingshan sits in a week of Asian hard-court events that also includes ATP 500 tournaments in Tokyo and Beijing.

Bolt's hard-court set record shows a clear split between his opening and second sets.
If Bolt does not take the first set, his second-set record gives Pankin a route to extend or flip the match. The sample is eight matches, so it describes a recent pattern rather than a fixed habit.
- Bolt played eight hard-court matches from 5 May to 24 September 2026.
- His first-set record in that sample is 4-4, with 4.75 games won per set.
- His second-set record is 2-6, with 3.625 games won and 5.75 lost per set.
