Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 24 Sep 2026, 22:24 · Europe/Bucharest

Two closely ranked players meet in a Porto quarter-final, with Brantmeier's serve and four straight-set wins here up against Voloshchuk's home run and better return game.

Brantmeier is the more likely winner, but the 1.35 on her is more than her record supports, while the 3.2 on Voloshchuk to win the match and 2.75 on her to take either the first or second set are rated potential value.

Context

Voloshchuk called for the doctor while leading the second set, lost that set, then won the decider 6-0. She plays a quarter-final the next day with a three-set match and a stoppage already behind her, so any lingering restriction would be tested almost immediately. No report after the match confirms a diagnosis, a withdrawal or a change to her schedule, and she completed the match and closed it 6-0, which leaves the extent of the problem unresolved.
- Doctor attended on court during the second set
- Voloshchuk lost the second set after the stoppage and won the decider 6-0
- No follow-up report on her condition or schedule has appeared

Brantmeier's return is the counter: she has won 46.2% of return points over her own last 15 hard-court matches, so the Voloshchuk second serve is the clearest place to find a break. Voloshchuk's return game has been strong in the same spell, with 51.7% of return points won and 54.3% of break points converted, so the match may hinge on which return holds up rather than on serve alone.
- 0.3 aces (5 in 15 matches) and 6.5 double faults (97) per hard-court match, 6 August to 24 September 2026
- 40.1% of second-serve points won (133 of 332) across the same 15 matches
- 51.7% of return points won (487 of 942) and 54.3% of break points converted (76 of 140)
Voloshchuk's second-round win over Harmony Tan carried her to a second successive Porto quarter-final and a fourth consecutive win at the event. Repeating last season's run keeps her on the same trajectory at WTA 125 level, and the result came against a player with a Wimbledon pedigree. This edition is being staged about two months later in the year than the 2025 event, so the parallel is about her ability to reproduce the run rather than identical calendar conditions.
- Reached the Porto quarter-finals for the second consecutive year
- Beat Harmony Tan 6-1 1-6 6-0 in the second round
- Won four matches in a row at this event, starting in the qualifying draw

Voloshchuk is the last Portuguese player in the singles draw at this WTA 125, after her first-round win over compatriot Teresa Franco Dias and the exits of the rest of the home contingent. The quarter-final is the only remaining home interest in the women's singles, which changes the setting around the match rather than the level of the opposition. Her wins here all came while other Portuguese players were still in the draw, so this is a new circumstance for her this week.
- Only Portuguese player left in the singles draw after the second round
- Joined five other Portuguese players in the main draw
- Beat compatriot Teresa Franco Dias in the first round
