Pre-match view

Context last updated 22 Sep 2026, 22:07 · Europe/Bucharest

Tararudee is 267 places higher and should win, but her hard-court matches keep running long while Park is at home after her first tour-level main-draw win.

The 1.12 on Tararudee to win gives nothing back. The quoted prices the evidence backs: over 20.5 games at 2.3, over 2.5 sets at 3.2, Park to take the second set at 4.25, Tararudee to win 2-1 at 4.25, Park to win the match at 6 and Park to take the opening set at 4.25.

Context

Park entered the Korea Open ranked No. 329 on a wildcard and had never won a main-draw match at tour level, so beating an opponent around 160 places above her is the clearest evidence this season that she can compete at this level. It also removes the question of whether a home wildcard could handle the step up at all, which is the main uncertainty attached to her entry. The counterweight is the level she has been playing: her wins before Seoul came mostly on European ITF clay, and one main-draw victory does not close the gap to a top-100 opponent.
- Park beat Montgomery 7-6(4) 6-3 in Seoul
- The result was her first win in a WTA main draw
- She entered the tournament on a wildcard

Tararudee's hard-court record is the fullest in this match and describes a player who wins often but rarely quickly.
Her first sets are a clear strength at 10-5, but her second sets are close to even at 7-8, and three of the 15 opening sets needed a tie-break. She averages 24.1 games and 2.47 sets per match and has been taken to a decider seven times. That shape matters against a 329-ranked wildcard, because the expected win does not necessarily arrive in straight sets.
- 15 completed hard-court matches tracked from 15 July to 21 September 2026, no retirements excluded: six 2-1 wins, five 2-0 wins, three 0-2 losses and one 1-2 loss.
- First sets: 10 wins, 5 losses, averaging 5.4 games won to 4.7 lost, with three tie-breaks.
- Second sets: 7 wins, 8 losses, averaging 5.0 games won to 4.7 lost.
- Average of 24.1 total games and 2.47 sets per match across the 15-match sample.
Three completed meetings sit behind this second-round tie, the most recent in Mumbai in 2026 and one in the 2025 Billie Jean King Cup, so the pairing is familiar rather than novel for both players. Tararudee has taken two of the three, the only place in the evidence where she holds a direct edge over an opponent ranked far below her. The meetings came at different levels and in different conditions, and two of them predate this season, so the record describes the shape of the matchup rather than a repeatable pattern.
- Head-to-head recorded as 2-1 in Tararudee's favour
- Previous meetings listed at Mumbai 2026, Billie Jean King Cup 2025 and ITF China 02A 2024

The winner of this match reaches the quarter-finals of the Korea Open, which is the immediate stake at an event where the hosts have three players in the second round. Park had never been past the opening round at tour level before this week, while Tararudee is the higher-ranked player in this part of the draw. As the opening Centre Court match with a noon start, it sits in one of the more visible slots of the round and is not subject to a preceding match running long.
- Listed as a round-of-16 match on Centre Court
- Scheduled for 23 September 2026 with a noon local start in Seoul
