Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 20 Sep 2026, 03:29 · Europe/Bucharest

Prozorova and Costoulas are near-identical on recent form and game share, but Costoulas holds a modest serve-structure and hard-court set edge, making her a slight favorite in a match that profiles as a long, three-set battle.

The best value is total sets over 2.5 at 2.20 (9.5-point edge), with total games over 21.5 a secondary play, while a Prozorova 2-0 straight-sets result is the clear avoid.

Context

Costoulas, 22, is the higher-ranked player at No. 150 and has played all 15 of her recent matches on hard courts. Prozorova, 23, is ranked No. 165 and also has a hard-court-heavy recent schedule.
Costoulas has converted 68.4% of first-serve points won over a fully tracked 15-match window, compared with Prozorova's 62.8%. Prozorova's first-serve rate is slightly higher at 61.9% versus 57.2%, so the edge is not about getting the serve in but about what happens after it lands. If Prozorova cannot match that efficiency on return, she will need to create extra chances elsewhere.
- Costoulas: 68.4% first-serve points won (364/532) across 15 tracked matches.
- Prozorova: 62.8% first-serve points won (390/621) across 15 tracked matches.
- Prozorova's first-serve in rate is 61.9% versus Costoulas's 57.2%, so the gap is in post-serve effectiveness, not serve accuracy.
Both players have identical 8-8 records over their last 15 matches, so return and break-point numbers are the clearest way to separate their recent hard-court profiles.
Prozorova's 45.9% return-points-won rate is the stronger figure, but her 45.8% break-point conversion is nearly level with Costoulas's 45.3%. That combination suggests Prozorova creates more return pressure without a matching edge in finishing those chances. Costoulas, meanwhile, has saved 51.2% of break points faced versus Prozorova's 49.2%, a small but relevant cushion if return pressure builds.
- Prozorova: 45.9% return points won (462/1007) across 15 tracked matches.
- Costoulas: 43.3% return points won (443/1023) across 15 tracked matches.
- Break-point conversion: Prozorova 45.8% (66/144), Costoulas 45.3% (53/117).
- Break-point saves: Costoulas 51.2% (42/82), Prozorova 49.2% (59/120).
Prozorova, ranked No. 165, and Costoulas, ranked No. 150, are separated by 15 ranking places and arrive with matching recent win-loss records.
Prozorova has won 52.4% of games and 50.8% of total points across her last 15 matches, while Costoulas has won 53.1% of games and 51.3% of total points. The margins are small enough that neither player's recent results alone point to a clear advantage. With no prior head-to-head meetings, this first-round match starts without a form or history lean.
- Both players have an 8-8 record across their last 15 tracked matches.
- Prozorova: 52.4% games won (165/315), 50.8% total points won (1022/2010).
- Costoulas: 53.1% games won (173/326), 51.3% total points won (1002/1953).
- No prior head-to-head matches between the two players.
Both players were moved into the Singapore main draw after nine withdrawals, so this is a WTA 500 first-round match neither had to qualify for. That mainly affects expectations around level and scheduling: they arrive as late additions to a stronger field than their recent results suggest.
- The September 18 tournament preview lists both players among the replacements after nine withdrawals.
