Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 20 Sep 2026, 19:26 · Europe/Bucharest

Hibino arrives as a clear favourite against a Mladenovic who has lost six straight, but the 1.22 match price asks for more than that record justifies.

The 1.29 quotes on the first and second sets, and 1.55 on a Hibino 2-0 win, are similarly short. Only the match going past two sets, at 3.00, holds up.

Context

Hibino’s final qualifying match ended one day before the round of 32, giving her a shorter preparation window for this fixture. Mladenovic did not need to play qualifying to enter the draw. The completed scorecard establishes an asymmetric workload, but it does not record a medical interruption or a current availability issue.
- Hibino is listed as a qualifier and Mladenovic as a moved-in main-draw player. Hibino’s final qualifying scorecard records a completed 2-hour-8-minute three-set win over Ito .

Hibino's Singapore first round follows a qualifying week in which she went the distance once, but her wider hard-court sample is dominated by short matches.
Twelve of Hibino's 15 tracked hard-court matches in this window finished in two sets, and only three went the distance, so a quick match is the likelier shape against a No. 824 opponent who has lost five of nine hard-court matches in straight sets. The qualifier against Aoi Ito on 20 September is the obvious caution: Hibino needed a deciding tiebreak there, so a two-set finish is a lean from her record rather than something she produces every week.
- In Hibino's 15 completed hard-court matches between 12 July and 20 September 2026, scorelines were 2-0 in eight, 2-1 in one, 0-2 in four and 1-2 in two.
- Those 15 matches averaged 19.6 games and 2.2 sets, with three containing at least one tiebreak.
The sample is the fullest hard-court picture available for Mladenovic, but it covers a long stretch rather than the weeks immediately before Singapore.
Mladenovic has won two of nine hard-court matches in this window, which is why she starts as the clear underdog, yet three of those nine went to a deciding set and her matches averaged 23 games. The two excluded retirements mean the record does not capture every hard-court appearance, and a 19-month spread is a description of a career phase rather than a current read, so the match-shape evidence carries more weight here than the win-loss line alone.
- Mladenovic's nine completed hard-court matches from 28 January 2025 to 25 August 2026 produced a 2-7 record.
- Five of the nine losses came in straight sets, and three of the nine matches went to a deciding set.
- Two retired matches were excluded from the sample, which averaged 23 games and 2.33 sets.
The Paris match is the pair’s most recent meeting and supplies a direct matchup reference beyond their older hard-court encounters. Mladenovic recovered after the first set to win in three. It was a WTA 125 match on clay, whereas Singapore is a hard-court WTA 500, limiting its direct relevance to current conditions.
- Their most recent recorded meeting was a three-set Mladenovic win at the 2024 Trophée Clarins.
