The read

Rybakov's superior serve structure (first-serve percentage, ace rate, break-point save rate) and slightly better hard-court point/game shares in the current 15-match window give him a modest edge in a low-margin qualifier between two similarly ranked players.

Rybakov's better hard-court game share and stronger serve-hold profile justify a small handicap edge, though the margin is narrow given both players' similar records.

The read

Rybakov's higher first-serve percentage and ace rate in the recent hard-court window make him marginally more likely to hold early and steal the opening set, though the edge is thin.

• Rybakov career first-set win conversion 87% vs Sell 92%, but Rybakov's current hard sample shows 73% first serves in (11 matches).
• Sell opened his last hard match (Sept 14, 2026) with a 3-6 first set against Michael Mmoh.
• Rybakov's Sept 13, 2026 win over Dan Martin came via a 6-4 opening set; his Sept 14 loss saw him take a first-set tiebreak to 6-8.
• No H2H meetings on record, so set-1 read is driven purely by current serve/return form.

The read

Recent hard-court results for both players skew toward straight-set outcomes, making a two-set match marginally more likely than a decider, though confidence is limited by the small sample.

• Sell's last-15 sets won is 41.7% (15/36) and Rybakov's is 48.6% (18/37), both below 50%.
• Sell's recent hard-court results include straight-set losses (3-6 6-2 to Mmoh, 6-3 6-2 to Hsu) and a straight-set win over Tobon.
• Rybakov's Sept 13-14, 2026 San Diego matches were both decided in straight sets.
• Neither player's recent window shows a strong pattern of forcing deciding sets on hard.

• Sell averages 3.3 aces per match over his last 15, and 3.5 per match on hard (11 matches).
• Combined recent hard-court ace rate projects to roughly 9.4 aces per match.
• Rybakov's left-handed serve and 70.9% first-serve-in rate support a higher ace ceiling.

• Rybakov averages 2.6 double faults per match over his last 15, and 2.4 per match on hard (11 matches).
• Combined recent hard-court double-fault rate projects to roughly 5.9 per match.
• Sell's lower first-serve percentage (59.4% overall) increases second-serve exposure and double-fault risk.
