Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 18 Sep 2026, 06:14 · Europe/Bucharest

Lamens offers value at around 2.10 as the underdog, backed by a superior first-serve win rate (69.5% vs 64.5%), better recent record (8-3 vs 7-8), and a straight-sets H2H win on clay.

Podoroska's weak clay form (2-4) and poor break-point conversion (38.7%) undermine her favourite status. Over 21.5 games is a secondary lean given both players' high double-fault rates and long match durations.

Context

Podoroska, 29, is a former top-40 player now ranked No. 317 and has spent most of her career on clay, where she has 267 of her 426 tour wins.
In her last 15 matches, Podoroska is 5-3 on hard courts with 52.2% of games won, while Lamens is 3-2 on hard with 51.7% of games won. The hard-court samples are small, so this is a mild edge rather than a clear separation, but Podoroska's larger hard-court sample gives it slightly more weight.
- Podoroska last-15 hard-court record: 5-3, 52.2% games won (8 matches tracked).
- Lamens last-15 hard-court record: 3-2, 51.7% games won (5 matches tracked).
- Podoroska's career hard-court wins (149) are well behind her clay wins (267), so hard is not her primary surface.
Podoroska, 29, is the home player and ranked WTA No. 317. She beat Eva Lys 7-5, 6-2 in the Sao Paulo round of 16 on September 17.
That win put her in a WTA quarterfinal for the first time since Hua Hin in September 2024, ending a two-year gap at this stage of a Tour event. She arrives with three wins from her last five tracked matches, so the run is real but not a long stretch of consistent Tour-level results.
- The São Paulo run ended a two-year gap between Podoroska's WTA quarterfinal appearances.
- Stored recent sample: 3 wins from 5 tracked matches.

Lamens, 27, is ranked No. 182 and has a career win rate of 56.1%, with most of her success on clay.
Lamens has won 53.3% of her last 15 matches and 52.2% of games, compared with Podoroska's 46.7% and 50.4%. The overall numbers favor Lamens, but the margin is narrow and both players have similar recent workloads, so this is a modest form edge rather than a decisive one.
- Lamens last-15 record: 8-7 (53.3%), 52.2% games won.
- Podoroska last-15 record: 7-8 (46.7%), 50.4% games won.
- Both players have played 15 matches in the window, so the comparison is like-for-like.
The two have met once before, in a 2019 clay-court event, with Lamens winning in straight sets.
The 2019 result is old and came on clay, not the hard court used here, so it has limited predictive value. It does show Lamens has handled Podoroska before, but the surface and seven-year gap mean this should not be treated as a strong current indicator.
- Only H2H meeting: Lamens won 6-0 6-3 on clay in July 2019.
- The match was played on clay, while this quarter-final is on hard court.
- No other H2H matches are recorded between the two players.

Lamens's superior first-serve efficiency and Podoroska's weak break-point conversion tilt the opening set slightly to Lamens, but the high DF rate keeps confidence low.
