Akira Santillan is a strong favorite over Yaojie Zeng, with a 3-0 H2H record and higher ranking.

Context

Santillan, 29, is ranked 331 and has a one-handed backhand. He has won 373 career matches and is the more experienced player in this matchup.
The head-to-head is one-sided: Santillan leads 3-0, with wins in 2025 and 2026. In those matches, he won 65% of break points and held serve more effectively. Zeng has never taken a set off Santillan, which gives the Australian a clear psychological and tactical edge.
- Santillan leads the head-to-head 3-0, with wins in March 2026, October 2025, and August 2025.
- In those matches, Santillan converted 65% of break points compared to Zeng's 28%.
- Santillan won 74% of first-serve points in the head-to-head, while Zeng won 68%.
Zeng, 25, is ranked 893 and has played mostly Challenger and ITF events. He has a 54.8% career win rate.
Zeng's last match before this tournament was a retirement loss to Martin Borisiouk on July 8. He then played two matches in early September, losing to Omar Jasika and beating Aoran Wang, but the retirement is a recent physical red flag. If he is not fully fit, Santillan's consistent baseline game could exploit any movement limitations.
- Zeng retired against Martin Borisiouk on July 8, 2026, after losing the first set 7-5 and trailing 2-0 in the second.
- He returned to competition in September, playing two matches, but the retirement remains a recent physical concern.
Zeng has a 60% win rate in his last 15 matches, while Santillan has a 53.3% win rate in the same span.
Zeng's recent record is marginally better, but his wins have come mostly against players ranked outside the top 500. Santillan has faced tougher opponents, including Bernard Tomic and Ilya Ivashka, and his losses have been competitive. This suggests Santillan's form may be more battle-tested for this level.
- Zeng is 9-6 in his last 15 matches; Santillan is 8-7.
- Zeng's wins include opponents ranked 891, 737, 867, and unranked players.
- Santillan's recent opponents include Bernard Tomic (179), Ilya Ivashka (393), and Chris Rodesch (151).
